I worked on this piece through repeated discussions with Fujii Kaze. The concept of the work is vagrancy and true freedom. Until a few years ago, I had personal interactions with people experiencing homelessness, and I recalled what I had felt at that time when planning this project. The public image of “homeless = poor, unhappy” is, for some people, a misconception. The homeless people I met had chosen a free way of living unconstrained by society, and their hearts were very wealthy. And we, living in the present day, realized that we are bound by so many things and rules that we are not truly free. These are things I recalled and thought about only as part of constructing the work, and what I wanted to convey in this piece was: That beautiful things are not the only things that are beautiful, and that any existence can be made cool depending on the expression of the artist.

This is the music video for the original song “Nibi,” released in 2026. I created the song, the visual system, and the web app. “Nibi” refers to a dull grayish color. In this work, I made ink-like coloration the basis of the visuals. Particles in the four CMYK colors drift through 3D space, repeatedly gathering into and dispersing from the shapes of lyrics and motifs to construct the imagery. For the overlapping colors, I used subtractive color mixing calculations; the denser the particles become, the darker they sink as the inks blend together. Although the work is presented on a display, a texture like dynamic printed matter emerges, as if halftone dots on paper were dancing. The particles converge from flat shapes, noise, pendulums, and other geometric patterns into letters, then scatter once again. Rather than a continuous sequence of completed letters, the transitions of gathering and dispersing themselves are the main visual attraction. All of the visuals in this work are rendered as a continuous video within a web app, and the MV video was exported as a single uninterrupted shot with no cut editing. The lyric text is placed in 3D space and is framed by the camera angles set by the creator. I released this web app itself as a viewer, allowing viewers to freely move the camera in the browser and explore areas beyond the viewpoints selected for the MV. This is an attempt to open up both the production process of the visual work and the experience of the creator’s selection of viewpoint itself. The source code is also available on GitHub. For the particle physics calculations, I used Three.js WebGPU’s TSL compute shaders to enable real-time GPU processing of a large number of particles. A music video set in the world of the manga BEASTARS. The first 89 seconds also serve as the ending sequence for the second season of the TV anime BEASTARS. The blue-world portion in the first half was colored frame by frame entirely with watercolor paints. By combining this blue segment with the red-world segment that begins in the second half, which is expressed digitally, the video presents two extremes within a single music video, contrasting the tenderness and happiness that have filled the past in the story behind this song with the cruel reality that is to come. For the production of this video, three-dimensional models of each character were created. Using these as references for the drawings made it possible to depict the BEASTARS characters, whose complex shapes are difficult to express through animation, with hand-drawn animation.

With innocent vocals, original lyrics, and explosive live performances, the band Regal Lily makes their first appearance on Minna no Uta! What could be the meaning of placing “stars,” “freckles,” and “diamonds” side by side? The protagonist once saw her “freckles” as a major complex, but after being told as a child, “They’re pretty,” she became able to accept herself. Because she still carries that sparkling, shining memory from that time, she can continue to like herself... With that feeling, she sings of her “freckles” as “stars” and “kiddy (tiny) diamonds.” The animation is by young talent Akari Maru, a student who has created animations for a variety of artists, including TOMORROW X TOGETHER. It depicts the figure of an ordinary girl who positively transforms feelings such as complexes, anxiety, and worries symbolized by her “freckles.” Everyone must have been hurt at some point, and everyone must have memories of being gently and emotionally saved. We hope this piece becomes a trigger for embracing all of those experiences close to the heart and moving forward. [From the animator, Akari Maru] My biggest challenge was how to portray a third party who affirms the protagonist’s complex about her “freckles.” While her heart is wavering, someone or something stays by her side. It doesn’t have to be a realistic human, and it doesn’t have to reply. It could be a stuffed toy, a pet cat, a plant growing on the balcony, or even a completely imaginary being. Like encountering the infinite stars spread across the night sky, perhaps the protagonist’s complex can only be eased through contact with a variety of personalities and beings. With that in mind, I made the scenario include Virgo, which becomes a decisive encounter for the protagonist. Like Regal Lily’s music, which is strong, ephemeral, and gentle, I hope I was able to portray an existence that lights up the protagonist while staying close to her heart.

This is a vision movie for Daito Seiki Co., Ltd. Manufacturing is often seen as repetitive and dangerous work, but it should be fundamentally free and creative. Through 2D animation, we expressed our wish that everyone involved in manufacturing could work more creatively and enjoyably, and experience many moments of excitement and inspiration in manufacturing environments that feel like playgrounds filled with ideas and wonder. Our image character, “Bandosou-kun,” is also running around freely throughout the film.

“Drifting in a Dream” is a video work that portrays the comfort and light of drifting through a dream. It was created with the aim of freeing the viewer’s mind and offering a moment to be enveloped in a quiet, beautiful dream world. By surrendering to the soft light and sound, I hope it brings back a sense of pure happiness that may have been forgotten. For the production, I used Blender, the 3DCG software I have relied on for many years. I chose Cycles for rendering and devoted meticulous attention to expressing the texture of light and atmosphere. In particular, for the lighting, I repeatedly refined the settings, making full use of softly diffused light and volumetric effects so that viewers could feel a sense of calm. For the music, I commissioned cokiyu, an artist known for creating many fantastical, dreamy pieces and for contributing music to the film Confessions, directed by Tetsuya Nakashima. She delicately expressed the concept of “comfort and light in a dream,” and the visuals and music come together to create an ethereal experience.

Drawn to their gentle sound and poetic resonance, I began to imagine stars descending into a silent forest and a landscape inhabited by tiny creatures. The story begins as stars softly fall from the night sky into the forest. When they reach the ground, they become tiny seeds, eventually sprouting and blooming into “star flowers.” The small creatures of the forest gather around them, playing music as they quietly watch over the flowers. Through the light and sounds spreading across the nighttime forest and the gentle passage of time, I wanted to create a world that feels both peaceful and warm. I created the film using Blender, a tool I have worked with for many years. The forest, stars, flowers, and tiny creatures reflect my love of nature and are rendered with a simple, handcrafted feel. By carefully shaping the light, shadow, and textures, I sought to create a landscape that seems to drift somewhere between reality and imagination. Rather than synchronizing the music and images precisely, I wanted them to gently accompany and resonate with one another. The music was composed by cokiyu, a musician with whom I have collaborated on previous works and who has also contributed music to Confessions, directed by Tetsuya Nakashima. For this film, her delicate piano melodies are accompanied by her clear, ethereal voice, perfectly complementing the atmosphere of the nighttime forest. The lyrics carry the themes of the story, with each word resonating quietly, almost as if speaking directly to the viewer. Her voice gently deepens the visual world, enriching its sense of light, time, and the poetic universe of Seed of a Star. I hope that Seed of a Star will quietly take root in the hearts of those who watch it, allowing their own imagination and feelings to gently unfold.

This video work depicts a surreal world based on the theme of “dreamscapes.” One of the characteristics of dreams is that scenes suddenly change. Strange scenes just before waking, memories connected in fragments—I visualized the experience of dreams I have had so far as a video. The tool used was Blender, which I have been using and loving for many years. Taking advantage of the free viewpoints unique to 3D animation, I created a world that exists somewhere between reality and fantasy. The music for this work is an original composition by musician no.9, who provided a song for the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. The sound design, synchronized with the visuals, further enhances the sense of floating and uncertainty that dreams possess. Please enjoy this new dream experience, where sight and sound intersect.

The film was created using Blender and expressed through a charming low-poly visual style. By adopting a simple yet warm design, we aimed to create an atmosphere that gently envelops viewers in the world of the story. We also paid close attention to the subtle direction of light and movement, carefully depicting the forest awakening each time the music resonates. The music is an original composition written by cokiyu, a musician known for creating many fantastical pieces and for contributing music to the film Kokuhaku, starring Takako Matsu. The delicate, dreamlike melodies breathe life into the visuals and add deeper color to the story. Please enjoy this gentle tale of magic, where a small sound can change the world.

The joy of playing with miniature cars as a child. We brought that sense of immersion and excitement to the screen by fusing the warmth of handcraft with modern technology. The art direction was built by the director and production team using reclaimed materials. The character and background illustrations were also developed through repeated trial and error, down to the paper quality, printing, and finishing methods, in pursuit of textures that would suit the world of the film. Working with a small crew, we brought AI in as a “partner” for processes beyond our capacity. Rather than using the generated output as-is, we layered it with human touch, warmth, and texture, carefully bringing out the contours of each material. Taking into account the product’s size and structural constraints, we carried out extensive testing in the planning of the direction, aiming to create a cohesive on-set environment.
