I had the honor of directing the music video for “animation” by AliA, a six-member hybrid rock band. Set in a fictional Shibuya and a masked group, I developed and directed a story from the concept stage that blurs the line between reality and dreams.

Design Ah! Exhibition Display Piece “One Way or Another”

This work was created for “Design Ah! Exhibition,” which toured venues across Japan from 2018 to 2019. By grouping hand movements by onomatopoeia, I created an installation that can be enjoyed in a quiz format, where viewers guess what each movement is doing as they watch. (Venues: The Museum of Art, Toyama; Miraikan – The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation; Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art; Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto; Sagawa Art Museum)

TECHNE: Video Classroom “The Secret of the Red Ball”

For NHK E TV’s TECHNE: Video Classroom, we created a one-minute video work on the theme of “same position,” featuring choreographer and performer Shuji Onodera. While performing a scene of passing a ball back and forth in sync with the place and timing, he also performed a scene in which gravity changes inside a spinning box, and we tried filming and compositing them so that “place, time, and gravity” would align perfectly.

Documentation footage of a video installation (at night) / a participatory installation for visitors (during the day). During the day, visitors are invited to tie papers bearing their wishes to the musubi-dokoro installed at the shrine, in the manner of omikuji. This process is continuously recorded in time-lapse, and at night the footage is projected onto the same location, turning daytime visitors into part of the nighttime work. The countless papers tied by participants during the day are overlaid with images of the participants themselves, creating an installation that traces the lingering memory of objects left behind in everyday life. A promotional movie for Pilot’s smooth ballpoint pen, “Acroball.” An image of lines drawn with Acroball, seamlessly connecting to everyday scenes and movements. Humans are so sensitive that we can detect even the slightest interruption, and it often feels as though we live under constant physical and mental anxiety and stress, always worried about things breaking off. This film was created to make viewers want to experience the uninterrupted, smooth comfort of Acroball. Asia Pacific Advertising Festival 2017 Bronze Award, 3rd BOVA Semi-Grand Prix.

A video work by the exhibition directors of 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT’s special exhibition “What is a Rule?” that explores the roles and value of rules from multiple perspectives. The rules we usually take for granted and follow almost unconsciously may not be the same for someone else. This educational video takes a multi-angle look at the customs and patterns of behavior shared by various communities, from schools and companies to society as a whole, and reveals the surprisingly flexible and changeable nature of rules, which at first glance may seem absolute.

As part of the “Creative Relay” project commemorating the 50th anniversary of the creative magazine Brain Monthly, published by Sendenkaigi Co., Ltd., we produced a commercial for Watabe Wedding as the Aeon Cinema cine-ad edition (60 seconds). We depicted what happened after the story of Snow White that everyone knows, in a one-minute fake documentary format.
