Born in 1982. Graduated from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music.
After working in Panasonic’s advertising creative division and as a freelance filmmaker, he founded his own company, Pie in the sky.
His representative work, Aware! Meisaku-kun, aired on NHK E Tele for six years. Its YouTube channel has surpassed 500 million views.
Other directing credits include Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and Kayoe! Chu-gaku.

Official animated video from Pokémon Kids TV, Pokémon’s kids’ YouTube channel. Released in June 2024. Quaxly, the Pokémon who loves to stay clean and always has its hair just right. A girl who feels insecure about her naturally curly hair gets seven different hairstyles using Quaxly’s gel! She enjoys experimenting with fashion, but in the end realizes that her own hair texture is the best of all. This is a story MV. While fulfilling the girl’s longing for stylish self-expression, it also carries the message that “being yourself is wonderful, too.” Directed and written by Taketo Shinkai, who has extensive directing experience at ETV; animation by Imomushi, a creator active on works such as “Sina Pusiu”; and vocals by the chill musician kiki vivi lily. The arrangement of highly specialized staff also adds to the strength of the work.

A sound drama (+ video) series distributed on Mixbox and other platforms starting in April 2021. 50 episodes in total. An audio-visual content series that displays dialogue as captions alongside illustrations, making it “fun to watch with handsome visuals” and “fun to listen to with great voice acting.” In an era when the boundary between professionals and amateurs in creative work has blurred on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and elsewhere, we wanted to deliver stories that feel true to life from the creators themselves. A share-house story about six creators. Yuuri Orikawa (cv. Shugo Nakamura), an up-and-coming voice actor, ends up moving into “Maison Handa-s,” a shared house where creators gather, after a chance encounter. The cool composer Shinobu Minegishi (cv. Toshiki Masuda). The brash streamer Haruki Kagaya (cv. Makoto Furukawa). The timid animator Akito Shinomori (cv. Kotaro Nishiyama). The sharp-tongued screenwriter Kaoru Gunji (cv. Soma Saito). And the owner, Masamune Sayama (cv. Takuya Eguchi), who seems to have a few tricks up his sleeve. Half a dozen ... the half of twelve. The six lives move forward, intertwined with one another.

A conversational animated series unfolding on YouTube. The theme is casual everyday conversations between two characters who work at an anime studio. Unlike the TV anime we usually produce, the story is looser, the cast is more relaxed, and with added on-screen text and other elements, it is a more “hobbyist” and “YouTube-like” work. Even so, it also includes a few touches unique to an animation studio, such as same-trace animation—a technique in which a character’s hair or fur trembles and moves.
