Profile
Creative coder / Technical director. To share the organic worlds born from the intersection of technology and expression with as many people as possible, he continues to create video works centered on installations. Born in 1989. Based in Kyoto.

Raised moving between Brazil, Senegal, and Indonesia from an early age, he studied visual design and interaction design in Kyoto and the Netherlands. While living in the Netherlands, he joined the local media art collective BORNDIGITAL and discovered the node-based programming language VVVV.

Since then, over the course of 10 years, he has been active as a freelancer, presenting real-time video works and installations while also working on a wide range of projects as a technical director. In 2016, he joined the creative collective CEKAI. In 2019, he was selected for Japan’s first Adobe Creative Residency and exhibited a body of work titled “STEP INTO THE SCREEN” at Adobe MAX and DesignUp India. Since July 2021, he has been a member of BASSDRUM, a collective of engineers centered around technical directors.

auve is a 30-minute audiovisual work in which one person performs everything from visuals to music by analyzing images and converting them into sound. Drawing on over a decade of experience in live visual production, it analyzes visuals in real time and transforms the rapidly shifting motion of the imagery into sound through a variety of pixel analysis techniques. In doing so, it reveals the rhythm and tempo hidden within the visuals, creating an integrated audiovisual expression in which the images on screen and the sound are perfectly synchronized.

A real-time video work independently produced while reflecting on 2020. As the COVID-19 pandemic made it impossible to create the installation works I specialize in, I began spending more time honing my visual skills. While continuing my Daily Render practice in vvvv, my main tool, I also wanted to challenge myself with richer visual expression, so I started working with UE4. Around that time, I was approached about exhibiting in the virtual museum of MUTEK JP x MX, and I created this piece to visualize the world inside the computer—the world within the screen that I wanted to show.

This is a brand-new animated concept movie by director Nishikori and CloverWorks.
