“Electric Girl” is an animated work depicting the everyday life of the protagonist with her anthropomorphized refrigerator at home. In the ending animation, to express the idea that quiet happiness can be found in the small events of everyday life, motifs were borrowed from the poem, “In spring, there are flowers; in autumn, the moon; in summer, cool breezes; in winter, snow. If there are no trivial matters weighing on one’s mind, then these are the best times in life,” and the changing seasons were portrayed. In addition, alongside the use of ink and watercolor in the artwork, imagery of stickers and stamps often used when collaging a planner was incorporated, in an attempt to convey the feeling that “precious days were carefully recorded.”

One day, a female painter realized that she couldn't come up with any other themes to paint except for her lover. She isolated herself in her world of art, trying to distance herself from her lover in order to paint something else. However, her lover continued to provide her with warmth and concern. Eventually, she painted a beautiful piece to commemorate the most beautiful thing in the world - love. To better convey the story, I designed the artwork in different styles. I used a Japanese animation style to represent the real world, and hand-painted watercolor and oil painting styles to represent the world in the painting.

The request was to create a symbolic and abstract shot that represents the infinite variety of the world. I chose the Mandala element as the main theme. I added dense details and changing frames to create an effect where viewers could pause and examine the symbolic elements in the visuals, and understand the concepts. I made adjustments to the traditional production process to achieve a visually stunning effect, aiming to leave a fresh and impressive impression on the audience.

Various patterns of life and death glimpsed in the moments before drifting off on an operating table. Did the surgery end safely? Is the patient alive now? This work is a stereoscopic experimental film inspired by the creator’s own experience of, upon waking from a dream, sensing that the left eye and the right eye were seeing different worlds. In addition to creating a sense of depth across layers, the hand-colored metamorphosis animation drawn on paper was transferred into digital form, after which rounded contours were added to match the shapes. We also studied how to achieve a visual balance in expressing the idea that the left eye and the right eye are seeing different worlds, and made careful adjustments repeatedly.

I create with attention to the art style, the beautiful texture of the materials, and the unique effects made possible by 2D animation. Depending on the style and amount of work involved, I adjust the production flow for each project. I also strive to incorporate collaborative work while preserving the distinctive texture needed to achieve a painterly style.
