Based on the globally beloved Pokémon Card Game, a projection mapping display of light and imagery unfolds across the walls of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. The Pokémon depicted on the cards, along with iconic visuals, are brought to life in three-dimensional form through light and video, spreading a fantastical scene across the building at night. From a microscopic perspective, what emerges is an internal structure that seems both mechanical and alive. A geometric structure moves in sync with the sound, beginning to operate according to a single logic. This is the opening movie for a DREAMS COME TRUE live concert held by STAR CHANNEL.

Nature grants “blessings” and brings “disasters” — such stories are nothing more than human perspectives. Phenomena that can be “blessings” or “disasters” to us are, in the natural world, akin to the impermanence of all things, and before their presence, we are powerless. The connection of beautiful “life” that creates such a vast and seemingly futile “nature” is confined within a sphere. The life contained within transforms in form and becomes a great surge. A station break for “Geo-Cosmos,” the symbol exhibit of the newly reborn National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. The video projected onto the 6-meter-diameter spherical display has no seams vertically or horizontally, and can be viewed from any position. A VR installation work with the concept of a “space of sound.” It recreates the spatial dimension of music, with the aim of transporting one’s audiovisual perception into that space through an HMD. Music always possesses space and time. The groove created by one sound and another is the “ma” (interval), and what emerges from that is a “vast space.” By immersing oneself in that immense space, the work seeks to create an experience of being more fully enveloped by the spatiality of music.

In 2021, when the Delta variant of COVID-19 began to emerge, this work was created with the concept of warning against the growing sense of complacency in society. The entire production process, from filming onward, was carried out remotely from home. With support for medical professionals in mind, the design uses blue in a way that makes it stand out and catch the eye. The characters and floating clouds, as well as other objects, were created in 3DCG, while everything else was filmed on the dining table at home.
