Profile
uwabami is an art unit whose work centers on creating moments that inspire spontaneous reactions. Working across illustration, animation, and live drawing, they create visual experiences that encourage participation, communication, and engagement between children and their families. For the regular segment *Minna no Dance* on TV Tokyo’s popular infant and toddler program *Synapusyu*, uwabami is responsible for both character design and animation direction. Their work explores how visual rhythm, repetition, and movement can naturally encourage children to move their bodies and share joyful moments with their parents. Other works include *Appo-kun and Appuppu*, along with numerous interactive animated projects built around facial expressions, rhythm, and audience participation. uwabami is also the creator of “Charastration,” an original live-drawing performance in which characters are improvised through conversations with participants. Through this project, they have created more than 10,000 personalized character illustrations. They also produced *Nigimaru wa Nani Shiteru?* for *Synapusyu*, incorporating the spontaneity and interaction of their live-drawing practice into animation. In commercials, advertising, and promotional films, uwabami’s strength lies not only in communicating information, but in designing experiences that make people stop, react, imitate, and share. Their work aims to transform viewers from passive audiences into active participants.
