A project that has been ongoing since September 2020. A video is made every day. All of the “one day, one shot” images are based on the motif of fire. The aim is to create a continuity like a campfire—finite, yet somehow evoking infinity. These daily videos (fires) from January 1 to December 31, 2024, have been compiled here. At the same time, each video is given the name of a specific station. As if traveling, a fire is lit at each stop on a local train line. All of those station names are listed here. A station name contains memories and histories that differ from latitude and longitude or from municipal boundaries. If a station disappears or falls out of use, these videos (fires) may remember the memories left behind by the public.

Music Video for “JAB!”, an original project track by music producer Xansei. Built from footage shot in LA, with red and blue planes added to the composition. Glitch effects were sometimes used. The aim was to emphasize the decadent world and occult atmosphere of the track through the visuals as well. Meanwhile, Xansei himself directly approached us after resonating with Renki Yamazaki’s “CONTINUITY” series from the One Shot a Day project. It can be said that this MV came to be because the worlds of the song and the visuals were originally adjacent to each other. Needless to say, the music remains the true centerpiece of the MV. However, this MV made us feel the possibility that the visuals and the music could stand on equal footing. In other words, it gave us an opportunity to reconsider how the visuals in an MV might avoid being “closed off” within the MV itself.

A screen styled as a desktop. YUKI spends time alone there. Communication through screens, and the new-normal year of 2022, when people send their thoughts to the other side of the screen. The music video unfolds on a desktop where these screens coexist. Alone, but not alone. This is the world the video seeks to express.

I wanted to make a work like a bonfire. I was drawn to the quiet space that arises around a bonfire, even without exchanging words or glances with others. There is neither a subject to empathize with nor information to catch in a bonfire. And yet, I wondered if the reason we can keep watching it lies in its “continuity.” In this work, several uneven, asynchronous images are presented to create a single space. Each image was made to feel seamless. Even so, each one may be nothing more than a loop. Still, I thought that by placing multiple images side by side in the same space, a continuity similar to that of a bonfire might emerge. (pieces from 2022.1.1 to 2022.12.31)
