アニメーション作家。東京藝術大学デザイン学科卒業後、アニメ制作会社に就職する。その後独立し、主に舞台映像やCM映像、プロダクトPVのディレクション等を経てアニメーション作家になる。実写素材や立体のマテリアルをアニメーションに融合させる独特の映像スタイルによって重厚感のある作品を作り上げる。代表作は、YOASOBI『優しい彗星』Official Music Video、時光代理人2期ED等。2026年オリジナル劇場用長編アニメ『我々は宇宙人』公開。

・ぴあフィルムフェスティバル2017にノミネート。

2019年
・舞台『DON JUAN』、『NODA MAP Q』、『仁義なき戦い〜彼女たちの死闘篇〜』、『ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA』映像チームに参加。

2020年
・QPLO 1st EP『spaceship』/Ayase『よくばり』/あれくん『好きにさせた癖に』『Date』/すとぷり　るぅと『腐心』/堂村璃羽『溺れ愛』のMVを手掛ける。

2021年
・FOMARE『長い髪』/TVアニメBEASTARS第2期エンディング映像ならびにYOASOBI『優しい彗星』/P丸様。『ならばおさらば』/ナナニジ『ヒヤシンス』、『覚醒』/花譜『それを世界と言うんだね』のアニメーションMVを手掛ける。

A music video set in the world of the manga BEASTARS. The first 89 seconds also serve as the ending sequence for the second season of the TV anime BEASTARS. The blue-world portion in the first half was colored frame by frame entirely with watercolor paints. By combining this blue segment with the red-world segment that begins in the second half, which is expressed digitally, the video presents two extremes within a single music video, contrasting the tenderness and happiness that have filled the past in the story behind this song with the cruel reality that is to come. For the production of this video, three-dimensional models of each character were created. Using these as references for the drawings made it possible to depict the BEASTARS characters, whose complex shapes are difficult to express through animation, with hand-drawn animation.

Music video for “Yozora wo Kakeru,” the theme song for the Saturday night drama “6-Second Trajectory ~ The Melancholy of Fireworks Maker Mochizuki Seitaro” The protagonist’s feelings of love are depicted through a story-driven narrative with a strong nostalgic appeal. The layout was carefully crafted so that it would become a beautiful illustration no matter where you pause it.

In a way that embodies the world of the lyrics, the protagonist, Kaf, changes form one after another and travels through time, rediscovering the joy of writing a novel. In the dream scenes, the drawings are strongly hand-drawn, with lines as the main focus and little use of shading, whereas in the real scenes, footage of the actual sky is composited in, the use of lines is conversely restrained, and buildings and other elements are rendered more realistically. This creates a contrast in the mood of each sequence while also aligning the story’s themes with the themes of its visual expression.

This work was created through the first collaboration between Kohei Kadowaki and Takaya Kawasaki. It incorporates real-life experiences from Kawasaki’s childhood, and also features photos taken by Kawasaki himself in his hometown and at his home, as well as timelapse footage of the sky shot by Director Kadowaki. The result is a fresh, innovative visual work that seamlessly blends live action and animation. Told as a fantasy-tinged story beginning with the encounter between a boy who has come from the future in a time machine and an elderly man, it delicately portrays the two characters’ memories, bond, and eventual parting through gentle, warm animation.

A story about a protagonist who, after learning about hyacinths, is reminded of a memory from their elementary school days and visits their alma mater for the first time in a long while. While looking at a drawing of hyacinths that they discover there by tracing their memories, they encounter the apparition of a friend they once had a one-sided crush on. The protagonist’s emotions and feelings are expressed through the color and shape of the light, as well as the intensity with which it shines.
