Description: I directed the music video for ASTERISM’s cover of “Kaikai Kitan,” by a band that debuted as an instrumental metal group. When I listened to the sounds played by the members, I had the sensation that the instruments were singing, and after thinking about how to visualize that, I had the members write down those sounds as lyrics. It was our first attempt at “instrumental lyrics,” and it was very fun to visualize the sounds they hear, matched to the music. GRAVITYMASTER GR-B200 : CASIO G-SHOCK

I directed a promotional video for CASIO’s G-SHOCK GRAVITYMASTER GR-B200. Since this watch is based on the concept of a helicopter, we created a somewhat unusual shoot, with visuals that made it look as if it were floating and with the watch itself spinning dramatically. During the shoot, I wondered if we could reflect a helicopter rotor on the watch face, so we quickly made a prop during the lunch break.

Pioneer Creating the Future of Mobility Experiences

I directed Pioneer’s corporate movie. Using a triangular prism packed with the new technologies that Pioneer will be announcing in the future, I expressed the future it will bring to people. I placed great importance on the subtle emotional ups and downs people experience through mobility.

LEVORG LAYBACK Driven by STI Performance

I directed a promotional video for SUBARU’s LAYBACK STI model. Unlike a typical location shoot, we filmed at Tsukuba Circuit, a course I had also driven on myself. Using the entire circuit, we focused on handling parts in the parking area. On the course, we raised the speed further and centered the shoot on aerodynamic parts. It was a shoot that reminded me once again that there is a beauty and a sense of joy that can only be seen when a vehicle is driven to its limits.

STI NBR 2019 and WRX

I directed a promotional video using Subaru Tecnica International’s Nürburgring-spec car. It was driven by SUBARU’s race driver Takuto Iguchi, and his speed range was beyond what I had expected; I remember the camera car having to run at an exceptionally high speed during filming. Also, as you may be able to tell from the footage, even when the car changed, he passed through the same line on every lap, which made switching between vehicles extremely easy, and I believe this work was made possible by the combined strength of a true professional driver.

STI Drifts by Toshi Arai

Using Subaru Tecnica International’s WRX S208, I directed drift footage of world-renowned rally driver Toshihiro Arai. We captured Mr. Arai’s outstanding driving technique in a real-world setting. Drifting in a 4WD vehicle is said to be difficult, but Mr. Arai’s skills made this shoot possible. I handled the filming from the passenger seat myself, and I still remember being amazed at how smoothly the car moved despite its aggressive motion.

STI E-RA Concept WorldPremier

I had the privilege of directing a promotional video for the EV race car “E-RA,” developed by Subaru Tecnica International. Given the nature of the world premiere, the full vehicle would be revealed at the unveiling event, so I turned the fact that only part of the car could be shown to our advantage, using long, powerful beams of light in the shoot to evoke a sense of advanced technology and combativeness.
