The people in our memories lose their outlines, while only the landscapes remain vivid. To turn sensation into the structure of the film, I overlaid a rotoscoped “her” onto live-action scenery, designing a device in which she appears only inside circles. I directed and produced the music video for “Toroi” by 19-year-old singer-songwriter AKASAKI. The concept is “fragments of reminiscence.” The film is structured like a patchwork, following a first-person perspective as it traces the memory of a woman who has drifted away. In reminiscence, memories of places and light remain intensely alive, while the contours of people grow hazy. To translate that texture of memory into the visual structure, I shot nostalgic photos and footage in live action, then layered a rotoscoped “her in memory,” drawn in pencil and watercolor, over them. The composition, in which the woman can be seen only within circles placed across the screen throughout the film, visually emphasizes the theme of reminiscence while also suggesting the presence of “someone gazing at her.” The act of tracing memory as if peering into it was itself inscribed into the film.

From the creative tech label THE LUV BUGS, we produced the music video for Saku and Somunia’s “Friend Code.” Based on the concept of whether the song’s sonic world could be expressed visually as it is, we created a visualizer that feels as if it is moving forward through light. The result is a unique music video that blends 3DCG, hand-drawn animation, and compositing work.

Directed and produced the music video for Saku’s “Shin.” Inspired by the sonic texture of the song itself, they created a minimalist music video composed of a cuboid room, lighting, and objects scattered throughout the space.

Directed and produced the music video for “Baby Galaxy,” a new song by the virtual singer Metromeu, released in April 2023. This was the artist’s first music video, and it was created so that it would be compelling both as individual visuals and as a complete viewing experience, making it a work that embodies the creator’s strong compositional skill and obsessive attention to its look.

A loop animation created for the Sakuga-Oh Grand Prix hosted by OURSONG. With the theme of lo-fi hip-hop music in mind, I came up with the concept of a young man wearing headphones endlessly descending the stairs of a building in 1980s New York, and expressed it as a loop animation. By skillfully blending 3DCG and hand-drawn animation, the film creates a richly textured space. In addition, by envisioning the finished image from the concept art stage, I was able to complete it with a moody look based on purple and yellow. From the concept and look development to the composition, I was able to boldly take on forms of expression unlike anything I had attempted before, making this work a signpost for my next step.

I directed and produced the music video for “Pikkan!”, the ending theme for the TV anime Pokémon. With “adventure” as the theme, I created the music video. It is the story of an adventure in which a breakdancer and a girl skater meet on the street, battle, and evolve. For the special animation, we filmed live-action performances by pro dancer ASHITAKA and pro skater Riku Kanemoto of SNACK, and Hiroo Sakimura handled the animation direction and key animation.

Android’s “Circle to Search” PV. Hoshimachi Suisei’s usual streaming room was recreated as a real set and filmed live-action. It was then composited with 3DCG.

Title song for the film Fureru by YOASOBI. It is structured so that the story of Mari Okada’s novel “Fureru. no, Zenya.” and the story of the film itself intersect. The scenes from the novel were directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, who also directed the film, while the film scenes were created as image animation by a team of animators led by Yoshiki Imazu. It is a music video brought together through the efforts of many creators and everyone involved.
