COSMIC LAB created the content by building a unique system that seamlessly and freely integrates live camera footage with motion graphics and real-time VFX. It was an electrifying stage worthy of the finale of a world tour that spanned nearly a year, and a night that made the future of live camera direction feel within reach.

**"Appo-kun and Appuppu"** is an animated short created for the TV Tokyo children's program Synapusyu. The film follows Appo-kun, a cheerful apple character, as he cycles through a variety of facial expressions and invites children and parents to join in a playful face-making game inspired by the Japanese expression “appuppu.” Imitating facial expressions is one of the most natural ways for infants and toddlers to engage with others. This work was designed around simple character shapes, repetition, and rhythm to encourage children to smile, imitate, and actively participate while watching. uwabami was responsible for the character design, animation, and direction. Rather than creating a passive viewing experience, the goal was to create a piece that encourages parents and children to make faces together and share spontaneous reactions through play.

By showing the process of being drawn itself, the work draws out children’s curiosity and anticipation, creating an experience in which they can enjoy wondering “what will happen next.” With simple lines and shapes, and a rhythm of repetition and change, it is a work that combines visual clarity with a sense of participation.

I created this work with the theme of visualizing the shifting lies and true feelings in love as emotional bugs. Throughout the piece, unstable motifs such as neon, sirens, and glitch noise are scattered throughout to express a psychological state in which the exhilaration of being drawn to someone and feelings of doubt coexist. While maintaining the glamour typical of an idol music video, I aimed for an atmosphere that feels somehow dangerous and addictive.

This is a documentary film created with the theme of preserving the atmosphere of Ms. Nagisa Shoji’s birthday event as it was on the day, along with the intensity of the live performance. Rather than focusing only on the on-stage performance, it is composed with care to capture the “atmosphere unique to that day,” including expressions before and after the show as well as interactions with the members. We aimed to create a film that conveys the special day’s atmosphere and sense of warmth, something that cannot be fully expressed by a simple live digest.

This promotional video was created around the theme of supporting the “career changes” and “anxiety about taking on challenges” experienced by people working in the fashion industry. Through characters working from different positions, such as designers, sales staff, and merchandisers, it portrays feelings like “I want to grow more” and “I want to try something new.” Rather than being a simple service introduction video, it presents a story-driven depiction of their struggles and conflicts at work, as well as how they gradually become more positive through learning. It also centers on the copy, “In your future, there is a senior who has already moved a step ahead,” and the entire video was designed to convey an atmosphere in which people can move forward not by worrying alone, but through learning and connections with others. Beyond a purely advertising style, the video emphasizes the characters’ expressions, sense of distance, and the overall atmosphere, aiming to create a piece that allows viewers to overlay their own “future selves.”

Rather than serving as a simple record of the concert, it was designed to reconstruct “the live experience itself” as a video, including not only the brilliance on stage but also the emotions behind it and the flow of time. Amid the cheers, the lights, and the wintry atmosphere, it captures the moments when the emotions of the members and the audience overlap, expressing the exhilaration and transience that are unique to live performances. In addition to the performance itself, we also valued the glances, expressions, the atmosphere during stage transitions, and the energy throughout the venue, with the aim of preserving the unique sense of warmth that existed only at that time and place. Rather than existing solely as a “record,” the structure of the video is meant to evoke the memories of those who watched the live show and convey that intensity even to those who did not.
