Miraikan “Aging Park”
2023

Description:
We were responsible for the planning, design, and production of “Aging Park,” the new permanent exhibition at Miraikan, Japan’s leading science museum.
“Aging Park” is an exhibition where visitors can feel, learn about, and reflect on aging, something everyone will experience. Inspired by a park, the exhibition space is presented as a colorful environment, the complete opposite of the somewhat negative image associated with the word “aging.” Visitors can deepen their understanding of aging as they move around freely.
In addition to six game-based content experiences that simulate the effects of aging on the eyes, ears, locomotor system, and brain, the exhibition includes explanations of how aging works, introductions to options available as aging progresses, and interview footage with older adults. It offers people of all ages and genders an enjoyable opportunity to begin thinking about aging.
Since its opening, it has been featured by many media outlets, including NHK, and continues to attract large numbers of visitors every day. https://www.miraikan.jst.go.jp/exhibitions/future/oipark/
