To commemorate the release of Kenshi Yonezu’s 6th album, LOST CORNER, we were responsible for the character design and AR production/design of “LOST CORNER AR LIVE in HARAKADO,” held at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado.” LOST CORNER AR LIVE in HARAKADO is a roughly five-minute AR experience that lets visitors witness a fictional Kenshi Yonezu live performance, dancing freely through the streets of Harajuku to songs such as the opening theme of the anime Chainsaw Man, “KICK BACK,” and the theme song for the NHK TV drama series Tiger and Her Wings, “Sayounara Mata Itsuka!” By co-creating with SoVeC, part of the Sony Group, and leveraging the advanced capabilities of Sony’s VPS technology, which boasts outstanding precision and robustness, we were able to create an immersive presentation that blends reality and digital content.

We planned and produced the main visual and film for UNIQLO’s 2023 global holiday campaign. Set in a fictional cityscape centered around UNIQLO stores, we created a wimmelbook-style visual—an illustration packed with countless people and objects—that depicts people experiencing a variety of everyday “small joys.” Through the festive excitement of the holidays, it conveys UNIQLO’s “LifeWear” philosophy of delivering the ultimate everyday clothing to people around the world. We also produced a special film in which approximately 1,400 characters move around in animation, and it was rolled out across about 3,000 stores in 27 countries worldwide.

Whatever Taipei created an immersive exhibition with Saatchi & Saatchi Taipei to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the whisky brand The Glenlivet. Set in the 19-meter-high circular hall of the National Taichung Theater in Taiwan, visitors were transported into the world of 1824, journeying through swaying barley fields and floating barrels as they traced The Glenlivet’s 200-year history. Scenes followed of founder George Smith and King George IV, symbolizing the brand’s innovative origins, along with the moment he received permission to legally distill whisky for the first time in the Livet Valley, and bullet-hole imagery depicting the founder’s bravery in confronting smugglers. In the climax, cascading whisky transformed into beams of light, expressing the opening of new possibilities for the next 200 years.

Description: We planned and produced a brand promotional video and key visual for the Taiwan market for the “SkinLife Face Wash” series by the popular Japanese soap brand “Cow Brand Soap.” Using the concept of “SkinLife” and “youth,” we expressed it through fast-moving running scenes often seen in Japanese dramas that portray youth. In addition to conveying a distinctly Japanese feel, we also increased product awareness by depicting girls enjoying themselves in various situations while showing how SkinLife’s rich lather effortlessly washes away skin concerns.

We were responsible for planning and producing “Yankee Library,” an event to commemorate the release of Volume 7 of the popular manga Taxes Paid for by the Taxpayer, which is currently serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine. Taxes Paid for by the Taxpayer is a library-themed workplace manga about a Yankee boy. For the event, we created a mobile library in the form of a wildly decorated Yankee-style truck: the “Yankee Library.” The launch event for the new volume was held at Shibuya Cast Garden. Visitors could climb up onto the truck bed, which served as the library, borrow all volumes of the comics and related books, and read them in the reading space. They could even read Volume 7 before its official release date. In addition, we prepared a special exhibition that allowed visitors to experience the story of Taxes Paid for by the Taxpayer. The event was enjoyed both by first-time visitors discovering the series for the first time and by fans who came specifically for the event, making it a celebration of the series’ world. Over the two-day event, a total of 1,360 people visited.

We planned and produced a promotional movie and key visuals for Momentum’s electric cargo bike, “PakYak,” for the European market. To highlight PakYak’s two key features—its powerful carrying capacity and wide range of accessories—we designed six scenes based on the target audience’s lifestyle. The visuals showcase PakYak in action across a variety of lifestyles, such as enjoying the outdoors and spending time with children and pets.

Whatever Taipei produced Uber Eats Taiwan’s annual branding campaign, “Get Almost Almost Anything,” in collaboration with Special Group. Through TV commercials, out-of-home advertising, social content, and more, the campaign highlighted Uber Eats’ ability to deliver a wide range of items and emphasized its evolution from a food delivery platform into a comprehensive delivery platform. In the promotional film, Hebe Tien, Aaron Yan, Jesse Tang, Ray Du, and Crown Du were invited to humorously portray how Uber Eats can solve all kinds of needs—not just food, but also items like flashlights, memory cards, and even a lucky charm for the day. At the launch of the campaign, a limited-time OOH scavenger hunt was held across major cities, where participants searched for serial numbers for special offers hidden within long disclaimers on large Uber Eats billboards. A series of social content, including interactive games, was also rolled out to reinforce the brand message and bring smiles to people’s faces.

Whatever Taipei and Special Group planned and produced “Never Eat Dirt Again,” a membership program spanning Uber and Uber Eats for Uber One. In Taiwan, people often use the local phrase “我要吃土了！” (“I’m going to have to eat dirt!”) as a self-deprecating way to describe running out of money before payday. In the “Never Eat Dirt Again” campaign, this expression was brought to life visually, humorously showing that by using Uber One and saving money, there would be no need to “eat dirt” anymore. In the short film, dirt spills out of refrigerators, microwave ovens, rice cookers, kitchen cabinets, and cereal boxes, portraying a humorous scenario in which someone is just one step away from “eating dirt,” while also expressing how Uber One helps users save money through benefits such as free delivery and 5% off rides. The campaign also used out-of-home (OOH) ads that compared dishes made with dirt to popular food items, highlighting the advantages of Uber One through the contrast between the two. In addition, a special collaboration was realized with Jianguo Holiday Flower Market, the largest flower market in Taipei. “Don’t eat dirt” signs were placed in the venue’s flower pots, and similar stickers were attached to bags of gardening soil, earning great praise from gardening enthusiasts. Visitors could also scan the promotional codes printed on the signs and stickers to receive special offers. Following the “Never Eat Dirt Again” campaign, Uber One membership grew dramatically. The campaign successfully established Uber One as a highly cost-effective service.

We were responsible for developing the ice-cooling system for “The Summer Puffer for Tiger Beer,” a collaboration between Tiger Beer, BBH Singapore, LePub APAC, and fashion designer Izzy Du. Puffer jackets are one of the most popular fashion items among Gen Z, but they are far too hot to wear in midsummer. So, true to Tiger Beer’s image as a beer brand that overcomes adversity, it created “The Summer Puffer for Tiger Beer,” the world’s first tropical puffer jacket aimed at trend-conscious consumers. “The Summer Puffer for Tiger Beer” is a puffer jacket equipped with an ice-cooling system. When an ice-cold can of Tiger Beer is attached to the jacket, the chilled water circulates through tubes woven throughout the jacket, wrapping the body in cool air. Since the tubes are concentrated near the arteries, the jacket can lower the body temperature by up to 5°C even under direct sunlight. For the development of the ice-cooling system, we drew inspiration from spacesuit technology that keeps astronauts cool in extreme heat, and compared and refined a variety of cooling system designs to keep the water temperature low. After testing the tube layout, materials, water tank design, and electronic circuitry wiring, we arrived at the final mechanism.

We produced the pilot film for “HIDARI,” the first feature to be directed by Whatever CCO Masashi Kawamura, who also created the original story and screenplay, together with Dwarf Studios and TECARAT, a top-tier animation team that supports the global stop-motion industry. “HIDARI” is a stop-motion period drama that boldly reimagines the story of the legendary Edo-period sculptor Jingoro Hidari, a figure with many surviving works and anecdotes but whose actual existence remains uncertain, weaving it together with historical facts from the Edo period. It is depicted using puppets carved from wood, just like the works of Jingoro Hidari himself. As with the many legends surrounding Hidari, the film brings “wooden dolls to life” through frame-by-frame animation. Please take a look at this unprecedented visual experience, which daringly blends the dynamic action of Japanimation with the analog world of stop-motion.

Whatever Taipei, together with Special Group, created an animated promotion for the subscription service “Uber One” for Uber Taiwan and Uber Eats Taiwan. Using vivid colors and a playful rhythm, the animation cleverly incorporates the number “1” while introducing the benefits of Uber One. Each point is given a playful touch, with its naming also expressed in a way that leaves a strong impression.

We planned and produced “Okitegami,” a tie-up music video with multi-artist Vaundy for Morisawa Fonts, Morisawa’s cloud-based font service that leads Japan’s font industry. We also handled the production of the special website released alongside the music video. https://okitegami.morisawafonts.com/ This work is a Font Specimen Music Video that uses 77 fonts provided by Morisawa Fonts, including Gothic and Mincho typefaces, and colors the lyrics with a wide variety of fonts like a font specimen book. Centered on the “magic words” featured in the song that Vaundy wrote specially for this collaboration, we used different fonts to match the meaning, weight, fragility, and emphasis of the lyrics, resulting in a vibrant music video that conveys the emotions of the lyrics more powerfully.

Commentary: Whatever Taipei planned and produced “Don’t Drink Me,” a new-style bath bomb inspired by Taiwan’s signature drinks: bubble milk tea, mango smoothie, and taro milk. To faithfully recreate Taiwanese drinks, we repeatedly tested and refined every detail, from the design and colors to the fragrance and the gradient of the foam as it dissolves. In the production process, we also worked with local manufacturers, and everything is made from natural ingredients. We hope you’ll relax with its unique shape and scent, and enjoy a playful, fun bath time filled with color and fragrance. Just be careful not to drink it by mistake!

We planned and produced a global campaign centered on TV commercials for Japan and Korea for Udemy, one of the world’s largest online learning platforms connecting people who want to learn with those who want to teach. Under the theme, “Connecting those who want to learn with those who want to teach,” this campaign depicts how Udemy connects a wide range of students who want to learn to advance their careers or become the person they aspire to be with instructors—entrepreneurs and professionals from every field around the world—who want to share their knowledge and skills, enabling students to learn practical, cutting-edge skills anytime, anywhere.
