Description: Directed and produced the trailer and opening title sequence for Video Copilot Live! Japan 2019, an event held in December 2019 to welcome Video Copilot founder Andrew Kramer to Japan. After returning to Japan, the short film “The Moment of Beauty,” released in 2014, was completed. It tells the story of a protagonist guided by light on a journey through an imagined world adorned with particles and lines. The project began from a desire to complete a single short film and, based on it, introduce the production process cultivated in Los Angeles. It was my first attempt at producing a short film that included live action, and after returning to Japan, it was brought to completion thanks to various connections. The work mainly used After Effects and Particular, with Cinema 4D used for the spatial settings and diamond fragmentation. It was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick. This collection includes works created from 2005, when I began studying motion graphics again at an art school and through self-study after moving to the U.S., through 2009, when I produced them at SG//ARTS, the first studio I worked for in LA. I moved to Prologue Films in the summer of 2009, and this piece also served as a demo reel for that transition. I thoroughly researched Prologue’s showreels at the time and planned the editing and music structure accordingly. It was created primarily using After Effects and Cinema 4D. At the time, I was also in charge of composing the music. I used Reason for the music production.

A sequel to the short film “The Moment of Beauty,” produced in 2014. Following the previous work, the protagonist travels across space and time from a surreal world to the galaxy, triggered by light. There, he encounters a being like himself. Into the heart (the galaxy)… Production began in 2015, but after two revisions, the work was completed on the third attempt in the winter of 2016. The work was created mainly using After Effects, Cinema 4D, X-Particles, Turbulence FD, and Krakatoa. This work was honored by being selected for the 2019 Adobe After Effects splash screen. Description: Kendo is a short film themed around kendo, presented at the Adobe/Intel booth at Inter BEE 2014, an international broadcast equipment exhibition held in 2014. The footage was shot using a Phantom Flex 4K, and at a time when there were still few 4K60P works, it was produced using the latest Adobe Creative Cloud and Intel environment. Description: Time-lapse filming carried out in Iceland in 2015. By rental car from Iceland’s airport, we traveled from Reykjavik to Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss, Seljalandsfoss, Skaftafell National Park, and Skógafoss, and were able to capture the aurora on camera on the night before the final day at the Northern Light Inn near the Blue Lagoon. This also influenced the later production of Beyond the Moment of Beauty. Cameras used were the Sony α7s and Panasonic GH4, and Lightroom and After Effects were used for editing.
