Inspired by Nedu, Hino Town, where the sound of water fills the town. An installation work in which overlapping streams of water envelop the space. At Tokinoma, an immersive gallery in Hino Town, Tottori Prefecture, housed in a repurposed former school, we held the special exhibition “A Classroom Where the City and Satoyama Intersect.” As one of the screening works in the exhibition above, this piece focuses on “satoyama,” and abstractly expresses both its beauty and the issues present in the region.

This work, presented on August 13, 2025 at the “Neo Lantern Festival” held in Hino Town, Hino District, Tottori Prefecture, simultaneously unfolded a visual presentation and an illumination design that enveloped the entire space. Set in an old warehouse once used for storing rice, it repurposed a dormant space and transformed it into a place that connects local memory with the future. The illumination is not merely decorative; it is an essential element that shapes the rhythm of the space in response to the imagery. Light placed along the walls and beams overlaps with the abstract layers of the video, spreading outward as if embracing the audience’s bodily sense. In a space where the festival’s defining “light” and the installation’s illumination coexist, the traditional light of the festival and the light of contemporary digital art intersected. The theme of the work is “reconstructing the landscape.” It captures fragments of nature and daily life from the Hino District (Hino Town, Kofu Town, and Nichinan Town), then reassembles them into abstract designs. The video evokes memories of the landscape, while the illumination serves to extend those memories throughout the entire space. Viewers can experience the moment when the familiar appearance of the land is transformed by light and imagery, discovering another kind of beauty hidden within the region’s scenery. Underlying the work is a desire to reuse local resources and foster cultural regeneration. By reviving an unused rice warehouse as an art venue, it became an attempt to create new value that honors memories of the past while opening toward the future. The closed-off space of the warehouse was opened up, creating a place where local people could share an experience of being surrounded by light. This installation functions as a mediator that connects land, people, and memory through the unity of video, illumination, and the local community.

This video is composed entirely of Chinese characters from start to finish. Using the radicals and structure of the Chinese word “漢堡,” which means “hamburger,” it explains the fictional psychological phenomenon known as “漢堡飽和.” This is a phenomenon in which, after staring at “漢堡” for a long time, one suddenly no longer understands what it is. It is said to be caused by neural inhibition, which prevents the brain from focusing on anything more than a part of the hamburger, causing the whole to be lost and its meaning to suddenly feel unfamiliar. This work is one part of the animation anthology Burger Order.

This is a music video created for the doujin creative event VOCADUO. It is an experimental work that marked the first time I incorporated character modeling, rigging, and animation into my production process. “Wonder Room” refers to luxury goods and curiosities in Europe around the 16th century. It is said by the composer, sanmal, that the song WonderRoom “2.0” was created with the idea in mind that there is a similar underlying impulse to modern internet content consumption. The video was made with a pixelated visual style that also evokes a sense of nostalgia, depicting a world where one explores a digital realm. Since both the characters and backgrounds were created in CG, pixel-style look development took time. Rather than following a scenario-based flow like an animated film, it was produced with a concept that extends from motion graphics.

Animation for a song from the ETV program “Inai Inai Baa!” With a focus on preserving the generous, open feel of the music, the visual development was composed especially from the rhythms and tones of the orchestral instruments. Clay, paper, cotton, lead, and acrylic paint were used for the forms. Each element appearing in the video was filmed separately by material and then composited. “Drifting in a Dream” is a video work that portrays the comfort and light of drifting through a dream. It was created with the aim of freeing the viewer’s mind and offering a moment to be enveloped in a quiet, beautiful dream world. By surrendering to the soft light and sound, I hope it brings back a sense of pure happiness that may have been forgotten. For the production, I used Blender, the 3DCG software I have relied on for many years. I chose Cycles for rendering and devoted meticulous attention to expressing the texture of light and atmosphere. In particular, for the lighting, I repeatedly refined the settings, making full use of softly diffused light and volumetric effects so that viewers could feel a sense of calm. For the music, I commissioned cokiyu, an artist known for creating many fantastical, dreamy pieces and for contributing music to the film Confessions, directed by Tetsuya Nakashima. She delicately expressed the concept of “comfort and light in a dream,” and the visuals and music come together to create an ethereal experience.

2025 Asia Digital Art Award FUKUOKA Award Winner Mitaka no Mori Animation Festa 2026, 24th Indies Animation Festa Award Winner "The Seed of Stars" One day, these words casually spoken by my daughter gently planted a seed within me. Drawn in by their tenderness and a poetic afterglow, I began to imagine stars descending into a quiet forest, and the landscapes where small creatures live. The story begins with stars drifting softly down from the night sky into the forest. There, the stars become tiny seeds on the ground, eventually sprouting and blooming into “star flowers.” The creatures living in the forest quietly keep them company, making music and watching over the flowers. I wanted to portray a serene, warm world filled with light, sound, and the slow flow of air in the night forest. For the visual production, I used Blender, which I have been using for many years. I expressed the natural elements I love—forests, stars, flowers, and small living creatures—in a simple, unadorned style, and by focusing on light, shadow, and texture, I created a landscape that seems to drift between reality and imagination. Rather than aligning the music and visuals perfectly, I aimed for a relationship in which they gently resonate with one another while remaining quietly close. The music was composed by cokiyu, a musician with whom I have long collaborated, and who has also provided music for the film Confessions (directed by Tetsuya Nakashima). In this work, her transparent vocals gently layer over delicate piano melodies suited to a forest at night. The lyrics carry the theme of this story, and each word resonates softly, as if speaking directly to the listener. The presence of the voice subtly deepens the visual atmosphere, conveying the depth of the imagery, time, and the world of "The Seed of Stars" more richly. I would be delighted if "The Seed of Stars" could quietly take root in the hearts of viewers as well, allowing free imagination and feeling to gently spread from there. This work was selected as an award-winning entry at the 2025 Asia Digital Art Award FUKUOKA and the Mitaka no Mori Animation Festa 2026, 24th Indies Animation Festa.

This video work depicts a surreal world based on the theme of “dreamscapes.” One of the characteristics of dreams is that scenes suddenly change. Strange scenes just before waking, memories connected in fragments—I visualized the experience of dreams I have had so far as a video. The tool used was Blender, which I have been using and loving for many years. Taking advantage of the free viewpoints unique to 3D animation, I created a world that exists somewhere between reality and fantasy. The music for this work is an original composition by musician no.9, who provided a song for the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. The sound design, synchronized with the visuals, further enhances the sense of floating and uncertainty that dreams possess. Please enjoy this new dream experience, where sight and sound intersect.

The film was created using Blender and expressed through a charming low-poly visual style. By adopting a simple yet warm design, we aimed to create an atmosphere that gently envelops viewers in the world of the story. We also paid close attention to the subtle direction of light and movement, carefully depicting the forest awakening each time the music resonates. The music is an original composition written by cokiyu, a musician known for creating many fantastical pieces and for contributing music to the film Kokuhaku, starring Takako Matsu. The delicate, dreamlike melodies breathe life into the visuals and add deeper color to the story. Please enjoy this gentle tale of magic, where a small sound can change the world.

The joy of playing with miniature cars as a child. We brought that sense of immersion and excitement to the screen by fusing the warmth of handcraft with modern technology. The art direction was built by the director and production team using reclaimed materials. The character and background illustrations were also developed through repeated trial and error, down to the paper quality, printing, and finishing methods, in pursuit of textures that would suit the world of the film. Working with a small crew, we brought AI in as a “partner” for processes beyond our capacity. Rather than using the generated output as-is, we layered it with human touch, warmth, and texture, carefully bringing out the contours of each material. Taking into account the product’s size and structural constraints, we carried out extensive testing in the planning of the direction, aiming to create a cohesive on-set environment.

I captured as a documentary on film the events from the artist (mejifunny)’s college days. The death of a friend and a breakup with his girlfriend. I infused the direction with a sense of transience, using chaotic emotions as the theme. Through many discussions with the artist, I created this work while also processing my own past memories and experiences. ~The feelings I put into it~ My girlfriend, whom I broke up with three years ago. The days I spent with her in my student years—faint, painful, childish, yet somehow happy. I’m sure I will forget these feelings someday. But there is still a nostalgic, sad feeling somewhere inside me. During the preparation period for this work, I thought about those things as I made it. My first MV work, created in my 10th month since I started filming.
