I worked on the motion graphics for "HILLS SAKURA JOURNEY," a cherry blossom festival event held across five Hills locations, including Roppongi Hills, Azabudai Hills, and Toranomon Hills, hosted by Mori Building Co., Ltd. — one of Japan’s leading urban development companies. The video was composed with the light, graceful movement of cherry blossom petals and vivid, eye-catching transitions. As an advertising video for the event campaign, it was shown on signage inside the Hills facilities, on the event website, and on social media.

Snake Line A video installation by filmmaker Shinichi Yamamoto and musician Tetsuji Ohno (Intercity-Express). Set at the biotope located at the edge of the forest within the expansive grounds of Nagaoka Institute of Design, the work features a 20-meter screen constructed from 40 connected LED displays. Positioned at the forest's margin — visible from the campus buildings — it unfolds amid the falling leaves of late autumn. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the work continuously shifts in response to the changing quality of daylight, rain, and the darkness of night reflected across the water's surface. Emitting vivid, high-saturation color, the installation neither confronts nor overwhelms its natural surroundings, but settles quietly into the landscape. The sound, composed by Ohno, builds an ambient sonic environment rooted in field recordings of a suikinkutsu — a traditional Japanese water instrument. Snake Line was produced as part of VideoListening, a media art program directed by Shinichi Yamamoto.

About - melt into space vol.5 The event “Melt Into Space,” which focuses on ambient and minimal music, will be held on Sunday, October 12 at Otani Memorial Hall, Sapporo Otani University. For its fifth edition, the event welcomes Salamanda from Seoul, Korea, who have earned high praise for their ambient and Steve Reich-inspired minimalist sound, and who also drew attention this year for their duo show with LAUSBUB at WWW. From Osaka, ast midori will perform; they released the EP nnn this past March and present a minimalist soundscape that blends four-on-the-floor beats, glitch, and live instrumentation. From Sapporo, the lineup includes organizer Tsubasa Sato, Junichi OGURO, an official Ableton trainer and professor in the Music Department at Sapporo Otani University, and olololop, a band based in a mixed-use building in Sapporo’s Shiroishi ward known for weaving intricate rhythms. On the visual side, ITOAOI, who has worked on 4s4ki’s music videos and collaborations with MINERAL Osaka and was also nominated for 100 Japanese Video Artists, will present VJ visuals across the entire hall wall. The decorations will be handled by 2=, who have transformed venues for Rising Sun Rock Festival, the hatch’s “The Justice,” SOUNDCAMP, and more. On the sub stage, Rico from LAUSBUB, who recently performed with Salamanda at WWW, will appear as a DJ, and Mei will perform live. Also featured are fui from Kyoto, who participated in the compilation Water Bodies featuring Salamanda’s Yetsuby; arow from Tokyo, who runs the multimedia platform CCCOLLECTIVE and is also active as Cryfff’s dub specialist; Layali, who hosts the regular event “SOKALL” at Salon Tareme; and Yoshihiro Tsukahara, a part-time lecturer in the Music Department at Sapporo Otani University, who has worked on game music and commercial music for titles such as Suikoden and Mario Party. For decoration, MomoMichi, who holds “Momomichi Curry Research Institute” once a month at Salon Tareme, will also join. In the POP UP area, in addition to participants who are also appearing as performers, VJs, and decorators—fui, ITOAOI, and MomoMichi—the unit Kankaku Ijo by Kaito Sasaki, Kaito Hayashi, and Momoha Funaoka, as well as the Sapporo-based coffee shop C-origin, which also has booths at YAGI and PARCO, will be present. A music video that accompanies an instrumental groove like a breeze sweeping along the coastline, visualizing the comfort and lingering resonance of sound. Set at Zushi Marina, it brings to life the “subtle fluctuations” of an AOR-to-balearic sound through soft light and particle effects created with CG. Clusters of light drift in response to the reflections of waves, the flow of the sea breeze, and the guitar’s reverb. By creating a spatial design in which sound seems to take form and rise above a real seaside setting, the groove of the live performance and the rhythm of nature melt into one. Composed so that “sound paints the landscape,” this visual work conveys the nuanced emotions unique to an instrumental band not through words, but through texture. A city-and-sea soundscape drifting between stillness and euphoria.

This music video portrays the protagonist’s struggle and recovery as a “choral member who has lost the joy of singing,” layering it with motifs of flowers and butterflies. The shifting color of the soothing herbal tea “butterfly pea,” which changes from blue to purple, symbolizes the members’ bond and the trigger for renewal, while the overlap between center Yunana Shibata’s member color and Nogizaka46’s signature color reflects a gradient of the heart moving from tension toward release. Butterflies resting their wings before taking flight once more. Inspired by that motif, flower petals rendered in CG drift upward from below to above, symbolically coloring the dance scenes. By singing together with companions, the work delicately depicts the rising emotions that break free from confinement and the shared energy that fills a single space.

Themeing on the contemporary sense of being “enhanced,” this video work interweaves glamour and Latin passion. By layering fabric textures and paint-like animation in multiple dimensions, and using tracking to seamlessly blend live action with 3DCG, it creates a sense of buoyancy in which the real and virtual seem to breathe within the same space. Inspired by the lyrical world, where even heartbreak is “embellished” and turned into a joke, the concept of “enhancing” is reimagined as a positive energy that illuminates the idol’s very presence, beyond the framework of lookism. This dance music video combines sensuality and strength, presenting self-confidence that radiates from within and provocative expressions carried by the rhythm of the dance.

Although it had not yet been released, the track was performed at venues across the country during his nationwide hall tour marking the 20th anniversary of his debut, where it drew a strong response. I expressed the inseparable connection with the world of the soul and the inspiration that links them. The spiritual world of the soul and inspiration, the unreal and the invisible, are portrayed in black and white to emphasize that they are inseparable, or that they exist beside people and life and are essential. This keyword, “the invisible parts,” comes from the artist’s own sense of discomfort with the accelerating, defined notion of what is normal and with trends. In truth, the world is driven by the parts that are hardly shown in the media. Above all, I wanted to depict the universal truth that the invisible parts of the heart and soul and the movements of reality are inseparable, and I created the story of a girl who sees in the world of the soul the inspiration that there is no future in a world without a heart.

From the song, I felt a summer-ambience kind of vibe and envisioned something ambient and electronic, so I wanted to make the visuals feel cool and refreshing. Although the meaning of the scenes themselves is abstract, I aligned the visuals with the beat and repeated the processes of editing and creating material to match the worldview of the lyrics, aiming for something that felt cohesively connected overall. For the graphic production and compositing (mainly in Blender, with a little final work in AE as well), I kept searching for something that matched the worldview and was pleasant to watch. During the material creation stage, I tried many different things with compositing in Blender, experimenting through trial and error, and connected various nodes together so that, even within abstraction, it would become something attractive and evocative. I did a lot of experimenting.

We worked closely with the members to develop and refine the story, and we made it with the hope that the small details and hidden touches throughout would help it, along with the song, become something people will love.

Through 2D animation, we expressed our wish that everyone involved in manufacturing could work more creatively and enjoyably, and experience many moments of excitement and inspiration in manufacturing environments that feel like playgrounds filled with ideas and wonder. Our image character, “Bandosou-kun,” is also running around freely throughout the film.

“Drifting in a Dream” is a video work that portrays the comfort and light of drifting through a dream. It was created with the aim of freeing the viewer’s mind and offering a moment to be enveloped in a quiet, beautiful dream world. By surrendering to the soft light and sound, I hope it brings back a sense of pure happiness that may have been forgotten. For the production, I used Blender, the 3DCG software I have relied on for many years. I chose Cycles for rendering and devoted meticulous attention to expressing the texture of light and atmosphere. In particular, for the lighting, I repeatedly refined the settings, making full use of softly diffused light and volumetric effects so that viewers could feel a sense of calm. For the music, I commissioned cokiyu, an artist known for creating many fantastical, dreamy pieces and for contributing music to the film Confessions, directed by Tetsuya Nakashima. She delicately expressed the concept of “comfort and light in a dream,” and the visuals and music come together to create an ethereal experience.

Drawn in by their tenderness and a poetic afterglow, I began to imagine stars descending into a quiet forest, and the landscapes where small creatures live. The story begins with stars drifting softly down from the night sky into the forest. There, the stars become tiny seeds on the ground, eventually sprouting and blooming into “star flowers.” The creatures living in the forest quietly keep them company, making music and watching over the flowers. I wanted to portray a serene, warm world filled with light, sound, and the slow flow of air in the night forest. For the visual production, I used Blender, which I have been using for many years. I expressed the natural elements I love—forests, stars, flowers, and small living creatures—in a simple, unadorned style, and by focusing on light, shadow, and texture, I created a landscape that seems to drift between reality and imagination. Rather than aligning the music and visuals perfectly, I aimed for a relationship in which they gently resonate with one another while remaining quietly close. The music was composed by cokiyu, a musician with whom I have long collaborated, and who has also provided music for the film Confessions (directed by Tetsuya Nakashima). In this work, her transparent vocals gently layer over delicate piano melodies suited to a forest at night. The lyrics carry the theme of this story, and each word resonates softly, as if speaking directly to the listener. The presence of the voice subtly deepens the visual atmosphere, conveying the depth of the imagery, time, and the world of "The Seed of Stars" more richly. I would be delighted if "The Seed of Stars" could quietly take root in the hearts of viewers as well, allowing free imagination and feeling to gently spread from there. This work was selected as an award-winning entry at the 2025 Asia Digital Art Award FUKUOKA and the Mitaka no Mori Animation Festa 2026, 24th Indies Animation Festa.

This video work depicts a surreal world based on the theme of “dreamscapes.” One of the characteristics of dreams is that scenes suddenly change. Strange scenes just before waking, memories connected in fragments—I visualized the experience of dreams I have had so far as a video. The tool used was Blender, which I have been using and loving for many years. Taking advantage of the free viewpoints unique to 3D animation, I created a world that exists somewhere between reality and fantasy. The music for this work is an original composition by musician no.9, who provided a song for the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. The sound design, synchronized with the visuals, further enhances the sense of floating and uncertainty that dreams possess. Please enjoy this new dream experience, where sight and sound intersect.

By adopting a simple yet warm design, we aimed to create an atmosphere that gently envelops viewers in the world of the story. We also paid close attention to the subtle direction of light and movement, carefully depicting the forest awakening each time the music resonates. The music is an original composition written by cokiyu, a musician known for creating many fantastical pieces and for contributing music to the film Kokuhaku, starring Takako Matsu. The delicate, dreamlike melodies breathe life into the visuals and add deeper color to the story. Please enjoy this gentle tale of magic, where a small sound can change the world.
