The internal sounds of a mechanical wristwatch were recorded using a specialized microphone. Those recordings were then reconstructed into an audiovisual work.

At the core of the movement is the balance wheel, oscillating eight times per second — what the watch industry refers to as “8 beats.” The work was inspired by the resonance between this rhythm and the concept of the 8-beat rhythm in music.

When recorded, the rhythm proved to be extremely precise, yet the pitch fluctuated ever so slightly. Precise, yet somehow organic. This sensation — constant, yet subtly unstable — is expressed through both sound and visuals.

In the CG work, rather than simply recreating the internal structure and metallic textures of the watch, we took an abstract approach to visualize “the vibration of time itself.”

Within an exact cyclical motion, slight fluctuations begin to emerge. Through layers of light, vibration, repetition, and microscopic shifts, the piece visualizes the “vibration of time” occurring inside a mechanical watch.

We planned and produced a brand film for BUTTERFLY, a brand owned by Tamasu, one of the world’s leading table tennis equipment manufacturers based in Suginami, Tokyo. This time, we featured Fan Zhendong, the Chinese player who has won the World Table Tennis Championships twice, earned a gold medal at last year’s Paris Olympics, and become a Grand Slam champion. The key message is Focus Within. (The one you need to face is yourself.) To develop the skill that allows him to surpass other players in every aspect—spin, speed, timing, control, and tactics—and earn admiration from table tennis fans around the world, we portray the dialogue he has had with himself over many years and the meticulous way he has honed his technique, together with his own voice-over, sharp visual expression, and sound design. The film has received an outstanding response across the board, including more than 1 million views overnight after its release on Butterfly’s official global Instagram account. Please take a look.

We created a concept movie for “EXPO WORLDs – Osaka-Kansai Expo OPEN DESIGN PROJECT.” As multiple “worlds” resonate with one another to co-create a new future—EXPO WORLDs is an open design project that aims to infuse the entire Osaka-Kansai Expo venue with the color and vitality of “life,” while designing for open participation. To visualize the philosophy and vision of this project, we built a world through visuals and sound and expressed it as a movie. People, nature, and technology meet, overlap, and resonate. The natural landscape of Hokuriku, filled with a strong sense of vitality, and the Gassho-zukuri houses that have stood unchanged for centuries. We were responsible for producing the still photography and promotional video for the Only on Airbnb project, which offers a special stay in one of the houses in Suganuma Village, Gokayama, a hidden area surrounded by towering, rugged mountains along the Shogawa River in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. The nine Gassho-zukuri houses standing amid untouched, rich natural surroundings, along with the atmosphere of the area, are truly a quintessential Japanese landscape. We focused on how to capture, in an authentic and compelling way, the history and culture handed down here, as well as the scenes created by the lives of the people who live there. The photographer was Satoshi Nagare, who has received high acclaim for interior and exterior shots in domestic and international media, including Casa Brutus. The video DP was Jin Ito, and the drone footage was shot by Tetsuichiro Kitagawa. The work was distributed to news media around the world at a press event held on site on 6/21, and received an excellent response from media outlets in various countries.

We created a brand film for ALPINE, a premium car audio brand from Japan with fans around the world. With the concept “SOUNDWARDS / Toward great sound,” we expressed a simple yet powerful brand message through dynamic visuals and music: where the best sound resonates, the best people gather and the best spaces are born. A great live performance and the audience drawn to it create the ultimate atmosphere. We captured that sense of being irresistibly drawn in with dynamic camerawork, making extensive use of drones. The music was created by KAITO, also known as Hiroshi Watanabe, whose work is released worldwide through Germany’s largest record label. The film direction and DP were handled by Senzo Ueno, and the overall planning and production were a collaboration with the creative agency Drill.

SONICJAM.Studio was responsible for producing the concept movie for “GOOD DESIGN SHOW 2021,” which discusses the more than 1,600 Good Design selections chosen for the 2021 fiscal year, as well as the signage video for Shibuya Station Big Signage Premium and Umeda Metro Vision. In the concept movie, we expressed the celebratory feeling of the Good Design Award and the different ways of thinking and perspectives brought about by design through bubble-like motion graphics, building a story around the lively image of many diverse participants interacting with one another. For the signage video, we created motion that always kept the visuals moving to catch the attention of passersby, and designed it to be seamless so that the “Good Design Award” could be promoted from any scene. In the teaser video displayed from October 18, 2021, lively typography and scene transitions heightened anticipation for the announcement of this year’s award-winning works, and in the main video, which switched over in time for the Good Design Award announcement on October 20, we clearly and neatly showcased more than 1,600 award-winning works while using typography motion at key moments to draw the attention of people passing by.
