Return to the Sky

I had a dream. A multi-layered composite animation character image speaks to me. The thoughts I had, the things I wanted to say but couldn’t, and my true feelings—all are complemented by a shared language that connects them.

A work inspired by Cowboy Bebop. Natural-looking animation is governed by many detailed rules (such as the 12 principles of animation), whereas jazz has no clear rules and unfolds through spontaneous improvisation. This work experimentally combines such irregular jazz with motion graphics constrained by easing rules, to explore what kind of visuals can emerge from that combination.
