Whatever Taipei produced a promotional movie for Momentum’s first electric cargo bike, “PakYak.” Momentum is a lifestyle bicycle brand proposed by the Giant Bicycles Group, aimed at young people and urban dwellers. Using scenarios, flat lays, and stop-motion to convey the brand’s concept, the film highlights PakYak’s sophisticated design, excellent storage space, and versatility by effortlessly depicting scenes such as taking children to the park, carrying a large amount of groceries bought after work, and setting out on family adventures in the mountains. https://www.momentum-biking.com/us/pakyak

FLOCK – No Party for Cao Dong Edition

We planned and produced a special website for the hugely popular indie band “No Party For Cao Dong” in Taiwan. On the website, users can upload their own photo and experience floating through water alongside the band members. Responding to the band members’ wish to connect with fans in an unconventional way, we redesigned “FLOCK,” an interactive installation created for the Hong Kong design festival “deTour in 2020,” to match the band’s musical style and image. By uploading a full-body photo, users generate their own avatar, which then drifts through the darkness of a virtual world together with the band members and other participants. http://walom.nopartyforcaodong.com/

A TV commercial and outdoor advertising campaign for Uber Eats Taiwan’s global marketing platform, “Groceries. Like that!” Following the 2020 teaser movie, we planned and produced the TV commercial and outdoor advertising campaign for Uber Eats Taiwan’s global marketing platform, “Groceries. Like that!” together with Special Group. By depicting the lives of various people—such as those living with pets, a new dad, and a millennial couple watching Korean dramas—we expressed Uber Eats’ extensive selection and fast on-demand delivery service.

Uber Eats Taiwan Groceries. Like that!

We planned and produced a teaser film for a global campaign with Special Group Australia, proposing a new way of grocery delivery service for Uber Eats Taiwan. In this global campaign film, scenarios unfold that reflect the lives and needs of consumers around the world, showing how Uber Eats magically solves every kind of request from consumers. By expressing the unique qualities of an on-demand delivery service that combines speed and convenience, we faithfully recreated Uber Eats’ smart and humorous style and visuals.

deTour「FLOCK」

2020

In collaboration with Hong Kong’s design event “deTour 2020,” we planned and produced “FLOCK,” an art installation that blends the real world with the virtual world. The impact of COVID-19 has transformed our lives, making it difficult once again for people to connect and meet in person as they used to. In response, Whatever set out to create an experience in the form of an artwork that celebrates the joy of people sharing the same space again, and produced a digital art installation that allows anyone to fly beneath the same sky as people around the world simply by taking a photo of themselves. At PMQ, the venue for deTour 2020, a photo booth was set up in the courtyard, where visitors could create their own avatar by taking a full-body photo. The avatars created then flap their arms and fly out onto a giant digital screen, soaring through a virtual space together with other visitors. In addition, by uploading a full-body photo from the official deTour 2020 website, anyone could join the same virtual world as the visitors on site.

I produced the music video for “Spaceship” (translated title), a new song by Wu Qing-feng, a singer-songwriter popular in Taiwan and across Asia. Set to 8-bit game music, the video uses live action and animation to express the song’s worldview, in which Wu Qing-feng sings about overcoming life’s hardships like a game. At Wu’s strong request, the animation illustrations were specially drawn by Hiroshi Abe, known for Arashi no Yoru ni and Zoo Guide.

Gogoro Road to Stardom

2018
00:00:13
As a promotion aimed at appealing to younger audiences for the Gogoro S2 and Gogoro 2 Delight, electric motorcycles released in 2018 by Gogoro, which operates a shared electric scooter service in Taiwan, we produced “Gogoro Road to Stardom,” an experience that lets users create an original music video while riding a Gogoro. Inside the tunnel, we installed a massive LED floor, scooters, and mirrors on both sides. By having participants operate the handlebars and buttons, a variety of animations and background music were generated as interactive effects, creating an immersive experience in which visuals were projected across the entire tunnel like a kaleidoscope. The music videos created were edited so they could be shared on Instagram and could also be received by email. Gogoro Road to Stardom was exhibited in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.

7-Eleven Rhythm of Love

2017
00:01:58
We co-produced the installation “Robotic Clapping Wall” for 7-ELEVEN Taiwan’s CSR campaign “Rhythm of Love” with ADK Taiwan. Robotic Clapping Wall is an installation featuring a donation box placed in front of a wall equipped with 12 robotic hands. Each time someone makes a donation, the hands on the wall clap for the donor. These “clapping robots,” which produce realistic clapping sounds, were co-developed with Bye Bye World. We also created a campaign website where users could make and share their own original clapping rhythms. Robotic Clapping Wall was exhibited at 7-ELEVEN stores throughout the greater Taipei metropolitan area from November 10 to December 8, 2018. http://7-11rhythmoflove.com.tw/

Small World – The Google Translate Restaurant

2016
00:02:00
In Manhattan, New York, we planned and produced a pop-up restaurant to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Google Translate and introduce its new Word Lens feature. To give people a hands-on experience with Google Translate, we brought together notable local chefs and opened a restaurant that served a different free multinational cuisine each day. However, at this restaurant, all the menus and staff communicated only in languages other than English, so guests had to download and use Google Translate in advance in order to understand the multilingual menus and converse with the staff speaking various languages. Reservations filled up immediately, and the event became an experience where hundreds of guests enjoyed different cultures and foods while also discovering the app’s practicality.

Namie Amuro “Golden Touch”

2015
Only Image
Music video for Namie Amuro’s song “Golden Touch.” By placing your finger on the screen, you can experience “Golden Touch,” which lets you pseudo-touch the world inside the video. We were asked to create a music video that would become a worldwide buzz, so that Namie Amuro’s music could be introduced not only to existing fans but also to a wider audience across Asia and around the world. Since the song title and lyrics were “Golden Touch,” we produced a pseudo-interactive music video in which simply placing your finger at the center of a PC or tablet screen makes it feel as if you are actually touching the objects on screen and causing them to change. In just a few weeks after the music video’s release, it was viewed more than 10 million times worldwide, achieving the original goal of becoming a worldwide buzz. As a celebration of that milestone and to express our gratitude to viewers, we also produced “Golden Touch – 10 Millions Views version,” which features Namie Amuro herself.
