Trailer movie for the science-fiction short story "Odd Romance," the third theme in the series "SENSE, 2050," which portrays "Tokyo in 2050" using the method of sci-fi prototyping through a collaboration between Sony designers and science-fiction writers.

As part of the Winter 2022 collection for “UNIQLO and MARNI,” we produced the promotional movie and how-to video for the vividly patterned “Silk Furoshiki Scarf.” We were responsible for both direction and production. Using stop-motion animation as the filming technique, the video depicts imaginary creatures being wrapped in the furoshiki scarf, highlighting that this item can be used not only as a scarf but also in two ways as a furoshiki. In addition, to emphasize the act of wrapping, the video is constructed not with people wrapping the scarf, but with characters, props, and a robot arm all dressed in the colors of the Silk Furoshiki Scarf, creating a distinctive world as they move on their own and become wrapped. The finished video is now available not only on UNIQLO’s official website, but also on UNIQLO Global’s official Instagram.

A prequel to “Gloaming - haze -”. It depicts the story of the girl from haze, back when she was still wearing a mask, and follows her up until the moment she removes it. The home environment is also a closed-off one, and the work suggests that the same kinds of circumstances depicted in haze exist there as well. To coincide with the renewal of Panasonic Connect Co., Ltd.’s experiential facility, the “Customer Experience Center,” we filmed and produced an ultra-wide theater video. With a focus on the experiences gained through the use of software, we aimed to let viewers feel them sensorially rather than through an explanatory presentation of the video content. By incorporating graphic expressions and taking advantage of the theater’s ultra-wide format to create horizontal expansiveness and spaces that can only be conveyed through video, we sought to achieve an expression that can be experienced only here.

In addition, to emphasize the wrapping process, the film was constructed not with people doing the wrapping, but entirely with characters, props, and robotic arms dressed in the colors of the Silk Furoshiki Scarf. By having these elements move on their own and become wrapped, the film creates a unique visual world. Within the “with BMW” collaboration site by Discover Japan and BMW, we shot and produced both the movie and stills. Titled “A Journey to Explore the Culture Passed Down from Swordsmiths and New Value,” WOW founder Yuji Takahashi visited Hokk Saburo Nobufusa, a swordsmith who is also connected to his own roots, at his family home. This visit is also featured in “Discover Japan, September 2022, Vol. 131.”

Description: Filmed and produced a brand movie for EF-ON, a company that supports people’s lives through energy conservation and wood biomass power generation. With a main focus on the Forestry Division, which forms the foundation of EF-ON’s core business, “biomass power generation,” the film portrays the latest forestry environment as well as new developments in forestry beyond logging.

Filmed and produced a concept movie for Kyoritsu Women’s University and Kyoritsu Women’s Junior College, which uphold women’s independence and self-reliance as the founding spirit of the institution. By seamlessly integrating the four elements of location, leadership, practical learning, and support, the film expresses what sets the university apart from others. It also aims to convey the image that, by graduating from high school and becoming a student at Kyoritsu Women’s University, each student can experience a truly one-of-a-kind campus life.

Filmed and produced the web movie “Todokeru” for Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. More than 10 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, this work expresses a desire to carry those memories forward into the future without letting them fade.

As part of a tie-up project with Swedish lighting company Profoto, we shot and produced branding visuals and a making-of film to celebrate the 5th anniversary of our leather bag brand, “ke shi ki.” Using the paintings of Denmark’s leading artist Vilhelm Hammershøi as our source of inspiration, we expressed the brand’s cherished idea of “a quiet presence that blends into the landscape” through the world of Hammershøi’s indoor still-life paintings. In addition, through a story of interaction between a girl and a woman, we conveyed the message that we want this to be a brand that is passed down across generations. Description: Shot and produced the 2021 Spring Visual for “ISETAN MiRROR Make & Cosmetics,” a select shop operated by Isetan Mitsukoshi that curates luxury cosmetics from Japan and abroad. Even this spring, alongside masks, the trend makeup look brings out a gorgeous yet softly gentle spring style from the eyes and cheeks. From a wide range of brands, items, and colors, we aimed for a colorful, spring-like, bright, and uplifting visual that embodies “choosing spring and discovering a new self.”

ONE DAY, 2050 / Sci-Fi Prototyping is a project in which SONY’s young designers and a leading science-fiction writer use “Sci-Fi Prototyping” to create a 10,000-character short story set in Tokyo in 2050, themed around diverse forms of romance, along with future products that appear in the story, which are mocked up and exhibited as design fiction at SONY Park in Ginza, Tokyo. Ohashi collaborated with illustrator Kazuya Kikkawa and animation artist Kazuki Sekiguchi to create an animated work like a film teaser that draws interest in the original novel’s story by incorporating the design fiction exhibited at the venue into the short story “Kimi ka Kimi ka.” Using halftones and dithering, the work portrays the hopeful vision of future products and the distance that emerges between the protagonists, Ichiu and Yori, after a certain incident, in a clean, dry visual style.

I directed and produced a brand movie for Goodpatch Inc., which achieved its first listing as a design company. The structure gradually narrows its focus from a broad perspective to the main theme. I directed and produced a corporate branding video for Goodpatch Inc., the first publicly traded design company in Japan. It begins with high-level concepts and gradually focuses on more specific ideas.
