Opening sequence for NHK’s serialized morning drama “Come Come Everybody,” which began airing on November 1, 2021. This 100-year family story follows three generations of women—Anko, Rui, and Hinata—as they each find their own way of living through love, work, and marriage, across the changing eras of Taisho, Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa. With the theme of “connection,” the visuals were created in papercraft with a warm texture so that viewers could feel both the bonds between people and the links between eras from the opening sequence.

On a summer day, I went out into town with an old man who teaches Russian by the seaside. Then, the town I thought I knew began to look different from an unfamiliar perspective. The old man will probably be by the seaside again tomorrow.
