Akabako: Embrace the Warmth of Japanese Bathing

Whatever Taipei designed a new key visual for “Aka Bako Beauty Soap,” the classic best-selling product of the long-established Japanese brand Cow Brand. It also planned the brand’s first-ever experiential special exhibition, “Sento-gaku.”

The key visual incorporates the classic atmosphere of a sento, designing “Aka Bako” to evoke a warm bath and create a soothing, comforting ambiance. In the experiential exhibition “Sento-gaku,” organized in collaboration with the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Japanese sento culture is faithfully recreated, allowing visitors to explore the bathing culture of Japan.
In the exhibition area of “Sento-gaku,” noren curtains once designed by Cow Brand to suit customs across Japan are displayed in a row. When visitors pass through them, they feel as if they have time-traveled back to a public bath from a hundred years ago. Various sento-related items are also on display, along with a mural of “Red Fuji” made by stacking Aka Bako bars; a faint fragrance fills the space, soothing both body and mind.
In addition, during the exhibition period, theme lectures by popular instructors and a DIY soap stamp workshop were also held. Through “Aka Bako,” visitors were given an opportunity to bring Japan’s unique sento culture into their everyday lives.
