Originally, this was a project I had been thinking of adapting for the stage, but I turned it into a drama series. The theme centers on communication through food. Lately, with more people eating alone and fewer family gatherings around the table, I started this project wanting to create something that conveys the joy of everyone eating together and having a lively time. That led to the idea of deciding what to eat by majority vote, which became the title, “Democracy Diner.” But I made it a comedy by highlighting how, despite the sign proclaiming democracy, it is in no way democratic at all. As for the method, I’ve done this before, but for this drama as well, I wrote the script myself and directed it while also operating the camera. By handling the camera myself, I can direct while feeling the actors’ energy up close and directly, which also makes it easier to create a good rhythm on set, and it’s a style of filmmaking I personally really like. 【あらすじ】
とある街にある一軒の定食屋。店名を「民主主義定食屋」という。この定食屋、ちょっと変わった注文方法を採用している。それはお客が食べたいものを、店内にいるみんなの多数決によって食べても良いかを決めること。そう、ここにくるお客は自分が食べたいものは、この多数決で過半数を得なければ食べることができないのである！今日もまた開店準備にいそしむ看板娘の美月ちゃん（山下美月）。そこへ開店前に重大なトラブルが発覚！さらにテレビから強盗事件の犯人が近くを逃走中とニュースが流れる。招かざる客の気配が刻々と近づく定食屋。果たして民主主義定食屋の運命やいかに・・・。

CITIZEN’s design philosophy film, created to commemorate the company’s 100th anniversary. In a time when attitudes toward “what a watch should be” and “how we engage with time” are undergoing significant change, we conducted interviews with 25 members of CITIZEN’s Design Department about their thoughts on “making watches,” and produced this film based on those recordings. The audio data will be preserved as an in-house archive at CITIZEN Watch for the next 100 years. This film was created to convey to as many people as possible the meaning of making watches, which is the core of the company’s business, as well as the passion behind watchmaking for CITIZEN’s future.

With the renewal of the recruitment website for Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, a long-established hotel with over 70 years of history, we produced three types of videos: background footage for the recruitment site, a recruitment concept movie, and a 15-minute vision movie. Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo has been building its history alongside its lush gardens. By connecting scenes of employees at work and interviews from various departments—such as front desk clerks, guest room service, sales planning, and culinary staff—who embody the spirit of hospitality every day, we aimed to create a vision movie that thoughtfully conveys to applicants the values Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo holds dear, as well as the appeal of working there. For the video that plays in the background of the recruitment website, we focused on conveying the hotel’s one-of-a-kind scenery and the refined atmosphere that flows throughout the property, featuring the nature of the gardens, historic sites, and the distinctive design details found throughout Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo.

Description: We captured on film the production process and Mr. Sugimoto’s thoughts leading up to the creation of the Enoura Observatory, an artistic garden designed by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and said to be the ultimate Sugimoto work. Rather than filming only the building itself, we wanted to create visuals that would also convey Mr. Sugimoto’s philosophy, so at the beginning we intercut imagery with Mr. Sugimoto’s striking words, creating a structure that broadens the viewer’s imagination, as if peeking slightly into Mr. Sugimoto’s own mind.

A youth ensemble drama where hidden feelings of friendship, romance, and longing intertwine! The finale of MBS’s 2023 Drama Shower slot is the completely original drama “My Strawberry Film.” With a script and direction team that includes Ryosuke Kawasaki, who directed the 2023 drama “Minato Shouji Coin Laundry 2” (TV Tokyo) and served as writer and director for “Zettai Meshi” (Kantele), along with other masters of youth dramas, this coming-of-age ensemble piece depicts the light and shadow of youth through the motif of film, brought to life by the fresh performances of four of today’s most exciting actors. Leading the cast is Ryusei Fukada, who has been selected for the ViVi “National Treasure-Level Handsome NEXT” category and is gaining attention rapidly, and is also expected to play Tonbo in the musical Kiki’s Delivery Service, starting in March 2024. He plays Ryo Ichikawa, a sensitive young man whose hobby is making music. Next is Rei Yabana, who, in addition to his work as an artist, appeared in the 2023 drama “Nare no Hate no Bokura” (TV Tokyo) and showed a sharp sensibility as an actor. He plays Hikaru Toyama, the mood maker of the group. Also, Ririka Tanabe, an exclusive Seventeen model who has appeared in buzzworthy works including the 2023 drama “The Teacher I Hired Recently, Is It Okay to Kill Students?” (Nippon TV) and is increasingly active as an actress, plays the beautiful girl in the film that Hikaru happens to find.
