Music video for “Wonder,” a track from Dangle Candle, the solo album by Kohei Kamoto, who is also a member of DYGL. In this work, we sought to visually express the melancholic texture of the song while also rendering a sense of drifting aimlessly, as if with nowhere to go. Drawing mainly on the texture of 2000s-era games, we constructed a virtual game-like space and created the 3DCG work by combining 3D models, environments, and motion graphics made from scan data of Kamoto himself within that space. By incorporating the uncanny quality of game-like visuals, as well as expressions that intentionally evoke incompleteness and instability, we attempted to expand the song’s world.

A music video set in the world of the manga BEASTARS. The first 89 seconds also serve as the ending sequence for the second season of the TV anime BEASTARS. The blue-world portion in the first half was colored frame by frame entirely with watercolor paints. By combining this blue segment with the red-world segment that begins in the second half, which is expressed digitally, the video presents two extremes within a single music video, contrasting the tenderness and happiness that have filled the past in the story behind this song with the cruel reality that is to come. For the production of this video, three-dimensional models of each character were created. Using these as references for the drawings made it possible to depict the BEASTARS characters, whose complex shapes are difficult to express through animation, with hand-drawn animation.

Abandoning comprehension, it aims to visualize a chaotic dance. At the same time, it seeks to lure the viewer into pleasure through the music’s bounce and immersive quality.
