A conversational animated series unfolding on YouTube. The theme is casual everyday conversations between two characters who work at an anime studio. Unlike the TV anime we usually produce, the story is looser, the cast is more relaxed, and with added on-screen text and other elements, it is a more “hobbyist” and “YouTube-like” work. Even so, it also includes a few touches unique to an animation studio, such as same-trace animation—a technique in which a character’s hair or fur trembles and moves.

I took part in the production of the animation section (from 0:15). I received the graphic data from the designer, and I was in charge of the motion. As for the movement of the text, the director told me not to make the motion uniform and one-patterned, but to create different images for each section, so I worked to make the movement and visual touches varied so that it would stay engaging to watch.

I tried to synchronize the restless, unsettling feeling of a baby’s crying with all the restless, unsettling feelings I’ve experienced up to now. We were all born crying, and grew up crying, too. I want to go back to being a baby. http://www.nhk.or.jp/techne/try/conte... Baby’s voice: Hina Oyama Cooperation: Kei Oyama
