Description: I received a long letter from Mr. Shijin describing the rich life his family leads deep in the mountains, and I created this piece while imagining that way of life. He said it was made with the image of a “sound baby,” so I didn’t think about it too deeply; instead, I made a video that would leave babies with a sense of wonder, excitement, and a little fear when they watch it, something that stimulates the senses through sight and touch. It was produced using stop-motion and line-drawing animation.

Footage from the recording of “Cowboy no Kuchiguse,” the advance single from Sonoko Inoue’s first album, Hokorobi. We kept the production simple so that the song’s appeal would come across directly, while also capturing the warm, relaxed atmosphere of the day.
