To help children aged 6 and up discover the possibilities of next-generation television, we produced the interactive educational program “Kao TV” in collaboration with NHK. “Kao TV” uses a technology called hybrid cast, allowing viewers to display the “faces” they create on television and make them sing. By installing a dedicated app on a smartphone and selecting their favorite “face parts” (such as eyes, nose, and mouth), the “face” they create jumps into the TV and starts moving. In the toilet episode, the face they drew becomes the toilet’s face, singing about everyday life in the toilet; in the green pepper episode, it sings about the life of a green pepper. The story was designed so that children could hear the true feelings of everyday objects around them. This program drew attention as the world’s first interactive, viewer-participation educational program, and it was also nominated for an International Emmy Award. http://www.nhk.or.jp/kaotv/

Whatever Taipei developed a “Taiwan Beer–flavored bath bomb” series in collaboration with the local Taiwanese brand HanBeer, as the second installment of its bath bomb line “Don’t Drink Me,” inspired by original Taiwanese drinks. https://www.pinkoi.com/product/CdznjmqQ Inspired by the drinking culture enjoyed at Taiwanese rechao (熱炒) restaurants, the series features three flavors: IPA, lychee beer, and osmanthus beer. Each bath bomb faithfully recreates the iconic aroma and realistic appearance of Taiwan Beer, with meticulous attention to detail, even down to the shape of the foam. Each bath bomb is also wrapped in a specially designed retro beer glass, which can be reused as a drinking glass after use. To commemorate the launch, a pop-up event was also held at “Wetland Venue” in Taipei, offering an immersive “tipsy bathroom” experience. Visitors could take photos in a bathtub surrounded by beer-colored tiles, or join a scent experience session at a unique sink made from stacked beer crates. One thing to keep in mind, however—this bath bomb is “Don’t Drink Me”!

Whatever Taipei designed a new key visual for “Aka Bako Beauty Soap,” the classic best-selling product of the long-established Japanese brand Cow Brand. It also planned the brand’s first-ever experiential special exhibition, “Sento-gaku.” https://www.cow-style.com.tw/index.php The key visual incorporates the classic atmosphere of a sento, designing “Aka Bako” to evoke a warm bath and create a soothing, comforting ambiance. In the experiential exhibition “Sento-gaku,” organized in collaboration with the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Japanese sento culture is faithfully recreated, allowing visitors to explore the bathing culture of Japan. In the exhibition area of “Sento-gaku,” noren curtains once designed by Cow Brand to suit customs across Japan are displayed in a row. When visitors pass through them, they feel as if they have time-traveled back to a public bath from a hundred years ago. Various sento-related items are also on display, along with a mural of “Red Fuji” made by stacking Aka Bako bars; a faint fragrance fills the space, soothing both body and mind. In addition, during the exhibition period, theme lectures by popular instructors and a DIY soap stamp workshop were also held. Through “Aka Bako,” visitors were given an opportunity to bring Japan’s unique sento culture into their everyday lives.

To commemorate the release of Kenshi Yonezu’s 6th album, LOST CORNER, we were responsible for the character design and AR production/design of “LOST CORNER AR LIVE in HARAKADO,” held at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado.” LOST CORNER AR LIVE in HARAKADO is a roughly five-minute AR experience that lets visitors witness a fictional Kenshi Yonezu live performance, dancing freely through the streets of Harajuku to songs such as the opening theme of the anime Chainsaw Man, “KICK BACK,” and the theme song for the NHK TV drama series Tiger and Her Wings, “Sayounara Mata Itsuka!” By co-creating with SoVeC, part of the Sony Group, and leveraging the advanced capabilities of Sony’s VPS technology, which boasts outstanding precision and robustness, we were able to create an immersive presentation that blends reality and digital content.

NHK E-tele “Aokiiro” Animation “Kurikaeshi no Uta”

We created the animation “The Song of Repetition by ROUTINE RECORDS,” which is used in a new segment of NHK E Tele’s children’s program Aokiiro, together with HERALBONY. “Ao” and “kiiro” are different colors, but when the two overlap, they become the same “midori.” Aokiiro is a program that nurtures a “mindset of coexistence,” in which many forms of life overlap and resonate with one another, and people come to rejoice together, help one another, and live together. In “The Song of Repetition by ROUTINE RECORDS,” we use the “tone” of repetitive behaviors, or routines, which may at first seem strange to others, as exhibited by people with disabilities, as a guide to express their invisible “inner landscapes” through music and animation. We also produced a music video version, “The Song of Repetition,” which brings together the stories of four artists contracted with HERALBONY into a single song.

A love comedy with a “bridge effect” between a trashy teacher and a negative JK! The smash-hit comic series currently running in Hakusensha’s “Hana to Yume,” with cumulative sales surpassing 3 million copies, will be adapted into a live-action drama, starring Ryo Hashimoto (HiHi Jets / Johnny’s Jr.) in his first solo lead role in a serial drama, and Akari Takaishi in her first terrestrial TV drama heroine role! “Falling JK and a Heinous Teacher,” which began serialization in Hakusensha’s “Hana to Yume” in August 2017, has been hugely popular with readers. Now it has been decided that it will air on MBS’s Drama Tokku block starting Thursday, April 6 (MBS: every Thursday at 12:59 a.m.; TVK: every Thursday at 11:00 p.m., and more), with Ryo Hashimoto (HiHi Jets / Johnny’s Jr.) as the lead and Akari Takaishi as the heroine! The original manga is the hit comic series, currently up to volume 15. With manga artist sora’s low-energy, surreal dialogue, its uniquely unmotivated characterizations, and the frustrating romance between two people who never cross the line because of their teacher-student relationship, it has struck a chord with many readers and become a runaway hit with over 3 million copies sold. The star of this work is Ryo Hashimoto (HiHi Jets / Johnny’s Jr.), who enjoys overwhelming popularity thanks to his striking looks and diverse talents, and who takes on his first solo lead role in a serial drama. He plays Jin Haiba, a physics teacher who is the textbook definition of a “hopeless adult”—unmotivated, addicted to gambling, constantly broke, and repeatedly engaging in reckless behavior unfit for a teacher. Nicknamed “Hai-jin” by his students, he is looked down on by them. The heroine is Akari Takaishi, a rising young actress attracting intense attention, making her debut as a serial drama heroine in this work.
