Collaboration track “bootleg wonderland” by virtual singer Madobe Rika and TORIENA Planning and composition were handled by Toshitaka Shinoda. The video direction was divided among the three of them—Toshitaka Shinoda, Yonayona graphics, and Natsuki Tatematsu—each taking on different cuts. Shinoda conveyed the story concept to me, built around the imagery of Heisei-era internet horror and the deep web, connected with 9mm film footage shot in the mountains, and from there the cut concepts, imagery for each person’s assigned parts, and editing were all produced independently. For the cuts I was in charge of, I aimed to create sequences in which countless elements rush by like a flashback, drawing on the pleasant distortions and the layering of innumerable sounds that I felt in the music, as well as the project’s imagery. I also aimed to create cuts whose contrast with the live-action footage would remain as a sense of discomfort when placed side by side in the overall progression. Rather than delicate, detailed effective movement, I focused on inserting a variety of rough, miscellaneous effects, and I created the illustrations myself to add subcultural imagery to the material’s variety.

This is the teaser video for illustrator LAM’s solo exhibition “Senkakubanrai.” Since it was created as a video to bring together fans from overseas as well, we filmed the scenery at Animate Ikebukuro, a hub for cultural trends, and produced it with the image of the entire city being dyed in LAM’s colors. We used CG to express a collaboration between TORIENA’s aggressive sound and LAM’s worldview.

A music video created on 8mm film that captures the poetry and worldview depicted by TORIENA. It portrays the contrast between the chaotic atmosphere of an old downtown area in Tokyo and the tropical scenery of Okinawa through a noisy visual world rendered on 8mm film.

I was in charge of the pixel animation for the promotional video for Audio-Technica’s record player “SOUND BURGER,” directed and produced by the visual design studio WOW, which is based in Tokyo, Sendai, London, and San Francisco. This is a promotional video for a new color version released in 2023, following the model’s revival in 2022 after about 40 years. Under the communication message “SAVE THE VINYLS,” the story unfolds as SOUND BURGER, which first appeared in the 1980s, travels through time to return to the present day in order to save records that are no longer being listened to. The music was produced by music producer TORIENA.

One morning, the cyborg girl Pulse was awakened by a phone call from her boss, Mr. Higekuma. It seems that a large number of enemies had appeared in the city. Pulse, who works part-time in the Good Deeds Department, heads out into the city with a Game Boy in hand.
