Airbnb : Japan Host Story
2019
00:01:36
For Airbnb’s “Host Story” series, which introduces unique hosts from around the world, JKD planned and produced a documentary film featuring Takigahara Farm in Ishikawa Prefecture.
Takigahara Farm is operated in Takigahara, Komatsu, Ishikawa, by a team led by Teruo Kurosaki, who created Midorisou, where JKD’s office is located. In this paradise-like place of farmhouses and cafes created by renovating several old private houses, an astonishingly rich flow of time unfolds.
Commissioned by Airbnb’s San Francisco headquarters, JKD produced a story about the Airbnb housed in an 80-year-old renovated stone storehouse there, and its host, Ryo Ogawa. The director was Mackenzie Shepherd. Aside from a few drone shots, nearly all scenes were shot on 16mm film.
This work allows viewers to feel the unique atmosphere of Takigahara, with its crystal-clear air, wild nature, and people full of vitality.
