On March 17, 2023, the new play-and-learn facility “Chikyu no Niwa” opened at the foot of Tokyo Skytree® to nurture the future of children and the Earth! There are all kinds of fun activities, from jumping, bouncing, and sliding to your heart’s content to playing in ways that spark imagination in the sandbox and with toys from around the world! On the outdoor terrace, where you can also see Tokyo Skytree®, even light, wind, and water become playmates. “Chikyu no Niwa” is also a place where children, who will live on the Earth of the future, can encounter many different faces of our planet while staying in the city. At this place that nurtures the smiles of children and the Earth, move your body and heart to the fullest, and experience lots of play and learning.

"Hotta" and "Hisaya Daishi," who attend a high school in Arimatsu Town. Hotta notices that indigo paint has gotten on Hisaya's fingernails. Hisaya's family has run an Arimatsu shibori shop for generations, and he helps with the work. As the conversation unfolds, they end up making an Arimatsu shibori yukata. I made this work because I wanted to tell a story about the local culture of Nagoya. It is a story about the dyeing technique called Arimatsu shibori. The artwork was drawn on paper and colored using Photoshop.
