We created the animation “The Song of Repetition by ROUTINE RECORDS,” which is used in a new segment of NHK E Tele’s children’s program Aokiiro, together with HERALBONY. “Ao” and “kiiro” are different colors, but when the two overlap, they become the same “midori.” Aokiiro is a program that nurtures a “mindset of coexistence,” in which many forms of life overlap and resonate with one another, and people come to rejoice together, help one another, and live together. In “The Song of Repetition by ROUTINE RECORDS,” we use the “tone” of repetitive behaviors, or routines, which may at first seem strange to others, as exhibited by people with disabilities, as a guide to express their invisible “inner landscapes” through music and animation. We also produced a music video version, “The Song of Repetition,” which brings together the stories of four artists contracted with HERALBONY into a single song.

Planned and produced the main visual and movie for UNIQLO’s 2023 global holiday campaign. We created Wimmelbook-style visuals, depicting people experiencing a variety of everyday “small joys” in an imaginary cityscape centered around UNIQLO stores. Through the excitement of the holiday season, the visuals convey UNIQLO’s “LifeWear” philosophy of bringing the ultimate everyday clothing to people around the world. We also produced a special movie in which approximately 1,400 characters move about in animation, which was rolled out at about 3,000 stores in 27 countries worldwide.

We planned and produced the opening title sequence and logo for the NHK Saturday drama “Wagemon,” which aired over five episodes starting at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022.

We planned and produced a global campaign centered on TV commercials for Udemy, one of the world’s largest online learning platforms, targeting the U.S., Japan, and South Korea. Rather than simply introducing the service, we focused on what kind of future this platform could open up, successfully conveying users’ own potential and the possibilities they could gain through Udemy. To create visuals that would resonate in both Western and Asian regions, we changed the main cast for each market and produced multiple versions of the copywriting tailored to each country.

For the NHK Special series “2030: A Turning Point for the Future,” we were responsible for planning and producing the program logo design and opening title sequence. The program reports on the environmental issues facing the world. It examines 2030, said to be a “turning point” for global challenges. Over the next decade, it considers how we can avoid crisis and achieve a sustainable future. In the logo and opening title, we used animation to portray the importance of confronting the real issues humanity faces and making our own choice at this turning point in the future. https://www6.nhk.or.jp/nhkpr/post/original.html?i=26703

Description: We were responsible for planning the “Hand Wash Dance” broadcast on NHK, as well as producing the video and logo design. As the world was facing severe restrictions on daily life due to the COVID-19 pandemic and people were feeling down, we wanted to create a video content piece that would encourage handwashing as a coronavirus countermeasure while also helping viewers feel upbeat and positive. The idea we came up with was to create a “handwashing routine like a dance” that everyone would want to try. Based on finger tutting, a dance style that mainly uses the fingers, it became a “hand wash dance” that is a little challenging yet fun and allows you to wash your hands properly. Starting with NHK, it is scheduled to be broadcast on TV stations around the world in the future.

We planned and produced the title sequence, logo, and posters for the TV drama series “Scarlet,” which began airing on September 30, 2019. https://www.nhk.or.jp/scarlet/ You can watch the title sequence here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJrzxkCT9sI

"Revival Day" is a program that gives people the chance to reunite, just once more, with someone who is no longer in this world. In the program, the reunion between Tetsuro Degawa and his biological mother, who passed away eight years ago, is recreated. Whatever was responsible for planning and technical direction, art direction, and the production of the making-of movie "Behind the scene." ーーー [Creator's Comment] What I paid the most attention to on the art direction side was keeping television-style direction to a minimum, so that viewers could focus on the conversation between Degawa and his mother, Yasuko. For that reason, I proposed an extremely simple set design consisting of only chairs and a monitor. On the technology side, the biggest challenge was the complete lack of reference photos and footage. A few low-resolution printed photos, and a lucky find: about 15 seconds of footage of Degawa and Yasuko appearing together for the only time. There was almost no audio data. Under those circumstances, recreating a person from the past with CG was an extremely difficult task. The CG production process used Autodesk Maya for modeling; VICON + Faceware + IGS + MotionBuilder were integrated and rendered in Unreal Engine; grading was done in DaVinci Resolve + MISTIKA; and compositing was done in Nuke. However, unlike ordinary CG production work, we repeatedly made small adjustments while tracing the family's memories and checked them over and over, gradually bringing Yasuko closer to life. Degawa's brothers and sisters helped us an extraordinary number of times. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to them. Whatever Producer Yusuke Tominaga
