The rock is covered with the same species of plants as those growing on the facing wall, which were planted by botanist and artist Patrick Blanc. The work changes its appearance with each passing sunset.
A rock is three-dimensionally created in a virtual 3D space, and water is made to fall onto it. The water is represented as a continuum of countless water particles, and the interactions between the particles are calculated. The waterfall is constructed as a physical simulation of the motion of water.
Then, lines are drawn in space based on the behavior of 0.1% of the water particles, randomly selected from the entire set of water particles. The waterfall is depicted through the collection of these lines. In other words, behind the countless lines, there are 1,000 times as many water particles, and the curves of the lines are determined by the interactions among all of them.
Finally, the waterfall, drawn three-dimensionally in virtual space, is turned into a video work through what we think of as a "super-subjective space."
