Shu Ikushima

Profile
Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1984, he graduated from Kyushu Institute of Design and joined KOO-KI in 2009.
Specializing in 2D motion graphics and animation, he works across a wide range of styles, including 3DCG and live action, handling everything from illustration and design to compositing.
His notable works include the opening sequences for the eBASEBALL Powerful Pro Baseball series (game-related), the openings for NHK Otsu Broadcasting Station’s Oumi 630 Hatsu / Oumi 845, and exhibition projects such as ZooLab’s “Zootuber” at Fukuoka City Zoological Garden, as well as the YAMAP circular community point “DOMO” introduction video and FREAK’s live-action music video “Crazy Summer Paradise.”
In recent years, Craft Boss x Kirby’s “Choosing is Fun!” and TOMBOW School Uniforms’ “Spread Your Wings, I Am” - Akane Miyama edition - were nominated in three categories at the Kyoto Ani-Monozukuri Award.

“Chiisana Osoushiki” was launched in 2009 as a pioneer of web funerals. Even if it’s small, it’s still a funeral. Saying goodbye is something positive, and “looking back on memories together” is important. Funerals tend to evoke a sad impression, but the feelings of sending someone off and the emotions behind it are expressed through an upbeat song and illustrations. To convey that positivity in the video as well, it has been condensed into a tight two-minute piece.

Directed by Shu Ikushima, the opening visuals for NHK Otsu Broadcasting Station’s latest Shiga news programs, “Oumi Hatsu 630” and “Oumi 845.” The result is a fresh, vibrant visual piece inspired by Lake Biwa. “Oumi Hatsu 630” is designed with a bright, soft, and gentle image, while “Oumi 845” has a slightly more refined, composed nighttime feel. The music is by Hiroko Sebu, known for her film scores and more. In addition to the opening visuals, title cards and other graphics were also produced.
