- Ryo Okawahara was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, in 1986. He graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at Tama Art University in 2009. In 2012, he completed the Animation program at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts. He is currently active as a freelance animation director and illustrator.

- 「アニマルダンス」(2009)が文化庁メディア芸術祭で奨励賞受賞。「空の卵」(2012)はシュトゥットガルト国際アニメーション映画祭にてロッテライニガープロモーションアワードを受賞。オタワ国際アニメーション映画祭、アヌシー国際アニメーション映画祭等多くの映画祭にノミネート上映。
