I imagined this work from the concept of the girls in “Ne mo Ha mo Rumor” winning the Japanese dance championship and then appearing at the world championship as Japan’s representatives next. When I was told about this MV project, I wanted to incorporate something new, so aside from the giant monolithic structure that appears in the video, everything was newly developed for this MV. That includes 20 battery-powered wireless moving lights, 40 LED poles, and the WAVING LED RIBBON that appears in the bridge section. The stage set itself does not move, and I wanted to break away from the idea of “things that are behind the performers.” So I decided to try a theme where the artists and the space become one. In this MV, ribbon performers come right up close to the members’ faces, and by making the moving lights wireless, they can be placed even on the dance floor, allowing beams of light fused with the members to dance together. The LED poles also continuously change shape, dancing alongside the members by mimicking the hand motions of their right and left arms. While keeping the artists at the center, this MV keeps expanding the space around them. I have mainly worked on live performance direction up until now, and AKB48 also value the kind of live, in-the-moment experience you get in theater performances, so this MV was produced with the image of watching one show all the way through. I think there is a certain comfort in watching a performance continuously, and there are always new discoveries no matter how many times you watch it, so I hope people will watch it again and again. I don’t think I’ll be able to pour this much passion into something for a while（笑）。

Seiho×cero 「SHANTI」MV

Under the ground we tread, water gently sways, and plants and trees grow by drawing it up. And even deeper below, a Ferris wheel turns. The things that have been swept away lie at the bottom, so they drift downward slowly. A single bird watches over it all, swimming waveringly around the Ferris wheel.

I just absolutely love the song! The moment I heard it, colorful candies started spinning around in my head. Since it’s “daishikyuu,” I wanted to make something fast-paced, chaotic, and above all super cute, so we had lots of costumes prepared, along with a bike, props, and all kinds of things for the shoot. With the theme of dreams you see while sleeping, I imagined a story like this: you desperately need to wake up, but you can’t get out of the dream world and end up going on a wild rampage! Also, I planned it with an image of a struggle over who has dominion over the dream—whether it’s Kana-chan’s dream or Sakina-chan’s dream, whose dream is it, anyway!? In the end, the domination battle element was removed, and it was shaped into more of a dream world, a cute little space, and that sort of image... When I listen to the song, it gives me the image of the two of them playing sports, and I pictured them wearing baseball uniforms in a gyaru style. I thought it would be absolutely adorable, so we went with it. (Kind of like Ayaya’s “Tropica~l Koi Shite~ru” lol) I also pushed for us to film the bike scene. When you think of speed, you think of a bike. The animation is also gorgeous, and for the very first OP animation, I asked misa to create something based on the idea that it takes place inside a girl’s dream. It’s insanely cute and amazing. The animation for the first chorus is the scene where they blow away the nightmare, and that was created by RaParu-san. I’ve loved RaParu-san for a long time and always hoped we’d get to work together someday... so I was really happy that my wish finally came true. And for the flashy effect animation in the baseball scene, of course it had to be Tetsuya Tatamiya-kun, the reliable go-to for effect animation!

SONICJAM.Studio was responsible for producing the concept movie for “GOOD DESIGN SHOW 2021,” which discusses the more than 1,600 Good Design selections chosen for the 2021 fiscal year, as well as the signage video for Shibuya Station Big Signage Premium and Umeda Metro Vision. In the concept movie, we expressed the celebratory feeling of the Good Design Award and the different ways of thinking and perspectives brought about by design through bubble-like motion graphics, building a story around the lively image of many diverse participants interacting with one another. For the signage video, we created motion that always kept the visuals moving to catch the attention of passersby, and designed it to be seamless so that the “Good Design Award” could be promoted from any scene. In the teaser video displayed from October 18, 2021, lively typography and scene transitions heightened anticipation for the announcement of this year’s award-winning works, and in the main video, which switched over in time for the Good Design Award announcement on October 20, we clearly and neatly showcased more than 1,600 award-winning works while using typography motion at key moments to draw the attention of people passing by.

This is a commemorative lyric video for a new song in which some of the lyrics were rearranged for the current-member version (-ZZ ver.) of Momoiro Clover Z, which celebrated its 13th anniversary on May 17, 2021. Using live footage and photos from the past 13 years, this beloved song for both the members and the fans is brought to life in a lively stop-motion animation that follows the lyrics as the members sing, dance, and race around. We also deliberately preserved analog textures such as hand-drawn elements and the feel of paper. The video features many cutout memories of stage costumes, stage effects, and live venues. For the members’ lip-sync in the big chorus, we cut out three frames each of their mouth shapes (a-i-u-e-o-n) and replaced them in a way that makes it look as if they are singing. The four members race through the song as crayons in their respective colors. It became a video that could only have been created now, when it is difficult for large groups to gather. With respect for the 13-year journey shared by the members and all the Mononofu.

Self-produced video work. A piece of music and visuals inspired by the period from the start of the rainy season to the end of the rainy season in 2021. It expresses dizzying change and a nostalgic feeling that is neither dark nor bright.

Reel 2022

Miho Hazama, the jazz composer born in Tokyo and now based in New York, who serves as chief conductor of the Danish Radio Big Band, created her latest album, “Imaginary Visions,” while traveling between the three cities of Copenhagen, New York, and Tokyo. Set to the track “I Said Cool, You Said… What?”, this interactive music video was conceived by Hazama herself so that viewers can enjoy the music while catching glimpses of each city and feeling as though they are the director.
