In Dante’s Divine Comedy, Canto 15, in the seventh circle of Hell, the third ring, those deemed to have gone “against nature” because of their homosexuality are tormented. There was Dante’s teacher, Brunetto Latino. Meanwhile, 700 years later, this is a fictional modern-day Japan. Dante the cat is a university student. In a city under prohibition, alcohol cannot be drunk. This work was produced to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri by the Japan-Italy Cultural Exchange Association.
