Concept In a world where the species you are born into determines the course of your life, Legoshi and Haru were beings destined to walk separate paths. Even so, they are drawn to each other, reaching out to one another amid the instability of interspecies romance. Though uncertain, Legoshi keeps moving forward, confronting his inner conflict and instincts. And beyond that, with everyone cheering him on, he continues to run straight ahead. Technique This work was created through a wider range of experiments than ever before, combining commercial production methods with independent, handmade approaches such as rough drawings, hand-painted backgrounds, and real paper confetti. While retaining the collage-style animation in which each sheet and every individual part is moved piece by piece, it also continues to explore ways to adapt to a greater variety of works.

In 2021, when the Delta variant of COVID-19 began to emerge, this work was created with the concept of warning against the growing sense of complacency in society. The entire production process, from filming onward, was carried out remotely from home. With support for medical professionals in mind, the design uses blue in a way that makes it stand out and catch the eye. The characters and floating clouds, as well as other objects, were created in 3DCG, while everything else was filmed on the dining table at home.

A music video for ZUTOMAYO’s song “Kuraku Kuroku.” A maid-type android left behind on a civilization-crashed Earth finds a horned baby in the ruins and begins raising it. Based on the music and lyrics by vocalist ACAね, the team built the world and story, and challenged themselves to use the design and animation techniques best suited to the expression. Although it was an independent production without a studio, they pursued a level of quality that surpasses studio-made works through ingenuity and completed the project entirely remotely. By skillfully capturing ZUTOMAYO’s distinctive world, the video has surpassed 47 million views (as of April 2023). Storyboard footage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uLrdw2FuxY
