Video content displayed on the giant LED screen (16K / 24 m wide x 2.8 m high) at the office entrance of Shibuya Scramble Square / MIXI GROUP. A future Shibuya where a variety of elements—such as the latest culture and traditional culture, technology and nature, and humans and animals—intertwine is expressed through pixel art animation that blends nostalgia with a sense of innovation. More than 300 uniquely eccentric characters, ranging from realistic to fantastical, appear throughout the piece, and the intricate imagery created from over 10,000 layers produces a pleasantly chaotic atmosphere, creating an entrance space where there is always something new to discover no matter where you stop and look.

Working inside a search engine is hard work. Data comes pouring in every day, nonstop, like lightning. I want to cherish the hardworking little dogs that search through the vast sea of ever-expanding data and deliver the data that’s been requested. The data space is a new place created by humankind, and this work depicts the landscape that spreads out within it.

Description: Amid the coronavirus crisis, when opportunities for creative expression are limited, this work expresses the act of daily recharging the energy needed to set a stagnant world in motion. It is people who will make the city shine brightly once again. In that radiance, many PLAYERS appear for just an instant.

This work is inspired by the strength, adaptability, and evolution of plants born and raised in Tokyo. How might plants, living across many generations, evolve in a dazzling metropolis? To them, would the towering buildings appear like giant trees? In response to the glow of the night, a new generation dances beautifully.
