A motion graphic created as a teaser movie for MUTEK.JP Edition 3. As an announcement for a music and art event, we used “TouchDesigner,” which has become a common programming tool for audiovisual performances and media art installations, to generate graphic materials for the teaser as well. We created a generative program in which multilayered lines and colors, matching the flat graphic imagery, are delayed and unfold over time. By interactively controlling that program, we live-recorded the endlessly generated line patterns on a PC and cut them together into a clip. Since it is promoted mainly on social media, the design development emphasizes a square format, such as dividing the frame at 45°.

We created a concept movie for “EXPO WORLDs – Osaka-Kansai Expo OPEN DESIGN PROJECT.” As multiple “worlds” resonate with one another to co-create a new future—EXPO WORLDs is an open design project that aims to infuse the entire Osaka-Kansai Expo venue with the color and vitality of “life,” while designing for open participation. To visualize the philosophy and vision of this project, we built a world through visuals and sound and expressed it as a movie. People, nature, and technology meet, overlap, and resonate. Please take a look at this landscape of co-creation.

In an infinitely expanding space, the calligraphy of “Kūsho” is written endlessly, while its chanting echoes throughout. If you lie down, or sit for a while, your body will eventually begin to float and merge with the world of the work. Calligraphy has the voice of its characters. As the calligraphy draws near, so does the voice. “Kūsho” refers to the calligraphy TeamLab has been creating in space since its founding. The qualities contained in the ink traces of calligraphy—such as depth, speed, and the force of the stroke—are reconstructed three-dimensionally in space through a new interpretation, and then transformed into two dimensions by the logical structure of TeamLab’s “Ultra Subjective Space.” The calligraphy moves back and forth between the flat and the three-dimensional. “Prayer” Exhibition (Tokyo) Exhibition details: https://www.teamlab.art/jp/e/prayer/ Work details: https://www.teamlab.art/jp/w/eternaluniverse/prayer/

This original film was inspired by Roniit’s song “Purify.” The work explores life that emerges only to fade away, and a world that is vast and beautiful, yet evokes a sense of transience and absurdity. A single star is born in a lifeless space. From it, life emerges—encountering other forms of life, colliding, and undergoing chemical reactions before eventually ceasing to exist. This process is depicted abstractly, from the detached perspective of an outside observer. I created the piece primarily in Houdini, drawing on my strengths in 3D CG and VFX.
