“Tail of Spacetime” was created as an artwork for experiencing the concept of spacetime. Through Minkowski’s light cone, we are always present at our current point, gazing at the horizon of possibilities expanding into the future at the speed of light. When you touch the “Tail of Spacetime” placed at the center of the work’s space, you can see, within the concept of spacetime, the trajectory of how you arrived at your present location. The space is three-dimensionally scanned by sensors placed in front, and by comparing the positions of the past and present space, it generates in real time an image that makes it seem as though your past self exists in the same space as your present self. Manipulating spacetime through visual effects has been achieved by SF films such as Back to the Future, manga such as Doraemon, and experimental works such as Norman McLaren’s Canon, Zbigniew Rybczyński’s Tango, and Michel Gondry’s music video for Kylie Minogue’s Come Into My World. But what it actually feels like had, until now, only been something we could imagine. By imagining, people can perceive the real world in a new way and transform it. The concept of spacetime is still very new, but with its emergence, the way we perceive our world has changed greatly as well. “Tail of Spacetime” is still an experience within video, but as technology continues to advance, I believe it may not be far off before it leaps into physical space. I look forward to seeing what kind of world lies beyond the ability to experience spacetime with our own skin.

The aim was to create a direction that reverses the seemingly negative image of meeting through mistakes and presents it in a pop and positive way. Mistakes and errors are something everyone makes in life, and whether a judgment made at the time is right or wrong depends on the surrounding circumstances and the timing. In reality, when something happens, there is a time lag before you can take it in and make sense of it. In the midst of that, people often go through situations that seem inexplicable and cannot be clearly judged as right or wrong. By rolling along and falling like that, we directly expressed the image of “this is life, and yet there is something compelling about it, and it’s not all bad,” in sync with the lyrics. Being unable to resist and getting totally absorbed in something is neither justice nor evil, but a helplessly human side of us; it can be a mistake, or it can be desire. From there, the first image that came to mind was “missing an aerial trick in a circus.” Also, since a circus is on tour, I had a slight image in mind of messy romantic entanglements developing among the performers during that time. Also, in terms of falling from heaven to earth, and because this was pop music x hip-hop, the first things that came to mind were Wenders’ Wings of Desire and American pop art, so I referenced those. The quotation of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks comes not only from the fact that the title is Night Owls (this work is the theme song for the TV anime Yofukashi no Uta), but also because it is frequently quoted in Wenders’ works. I also referenced the image of pop-art-style silkscreen prints and the imagery of Romare Bearden. In addition, when considering Creepy Nuts, I was mindful of their broad appeal, especially their exposure on variety shows, so the roulette was inspired by Jungle TV Tamori no Hōsoku, and the confession scene was inspired by Ore-tachi Hyokin-zoku.

Concept movie for the creative community “Blue Marble.” “Respect all creations.” “We do not say ‘impossible.’” “Why not?” “Be a marverick.” “Life is a journey.” In tandem with the concept words of “Blue Marble,” which supports a wide range of making and creation, the film expresses the community’s mindset. Using everyday materials such as clay, balls, and marbles, it was produced with a variety of techniques, from live action and stop motion to CG. The music was created with an emphasis on spontaneity, performed improvisationally while the finished visuals were being played back. With respect for all creation.
