Inspired by Mr. Kiyoshi Yamashita’s words after seeing the Nagaoka fireworks—“If everyone had made only beautiful fireworks instead of making bombs, then war surely would never have happened”—we added a small story and movement to Mr. Noboru Naito’s graphic design.

Music video for RIM's song “Inner Child.” This song is the theme song for the MBS Drama Tokku “Boys Abyss,” and the video is composed around a worldview that follows the story of the original work. The sticky, unsettling atmosphere of a town trapped in a narrow space, along with the emotional and fleeting scenery that stands in contrast to it, is expressed by weaving together vivid illustrations drawn by graphic designer Punch.

This collection includes works created from 2005, when I began studying motion graphics again at an art school and through self-study after moving to the U.S., through 2009, when I produced them at SG//ARTS, the first studio I worked for in LA. I moved to Prologue Films in the summer of 2009, and this piece also served as a demo reel for that transition. I thoroughly researched Prologue’s showreels at the time and planned the editing and music structure accordingly. It was created primarily using After Effects and Cinema 4D. At the time, I was also in charge of composing the music. I used Reason for the music production.
