I created this work with an emphasis on atmosphere. I was conscious of how the two of them would appear, like a vivid memory burned into the brain. For the singing cuts, I also included separate locations so they wouldn’t appear in the same way, while filming at places that evoke memories, as if the song were about the two of them.

[Story] This is the story of Ray and Anne, continuing from KASHIKA01. Anne appears before Ray, who is living a listless life…!? [Technique] For the visuals in the chorus, I centered them around dance. I created the choreography, captured it with motion capture, added camera work, and then recreated it as hand-drawn animation. I also incorporated plenty of motion graphics and dot-style expressions to convey a pop world, with the intention of creating visual expression not usually seen in traditional 2D animation.

The video was filmed in Okutama, reuniting with the production team behind “Dong Chang Swag,” which caused a huge buzz when it was released last year. One of the themes was to incorporate the “sakura” mentioned in the title into the visuals, and production was timed to coincide with the peak cherry blossom season. As a new filming technique, drone aerial footage was used for the first time in a THE CHERRY COKE$ music video, and its stunning visual beauty is a must-see! The scenario and direction clearly convey the feelings behind the title “Sakura Boat” and the song’s passionate message. On top of that, carefully crafted filming techniques are interwoven with exquisite balance. Furthermore, there is said to be a twist at the end that will make you think, “No way...,” so be sure to watch the music video and see for yourself! Around this time of year, about a month has passed since the start of new jobs and the new school year, and it can also be a period when people begin to struggle with all kinds of worries and anxieties. Precisely because this is the time when such concerns start to surface, “Sakura Boat ～Sail Of Life～,” filled with THE CHERRY COKE$’s passionate message, should help you remember your初心 once again and give you the push to stand back up, look ahead, and move forward!
