Using as many varied techniques as possible, including 8mm film, puppet animation, and 3DCG, I created this work while channeling its musical ideas into the atmosphere of interwar Europe. I designed the music video with the interpretation that it is about dreams, and about how one faces and keeps one’s distance from the people and world around them.

Video installation created by a trio: photographer Taisuke Koyama × creative collective PARTY × musician Shohei Amimori “GINZA GROUND GAP” is an installation that brings subtle changes to the rooftop garden space through a chain of three media—video, photography, and sound—recorded, shot, and captured in the streets of Ginza. In this work, the scenery at ground level and the view from the rooftop gradually blend together, giving the streets of Ginza and the people passing through them a faint sense of unease and uplift. The video is created from the movement of people striding through Ginza; the photographs from objects on the street surface and those that create boundaries; and the sound from people’s footsteps and the vibrations of the air.

I took part in the production of the animation section (from 0:15). I received the graphic data from the designer, and I was in charge of the motion. As for the movement of the text, the director told me not to make the motion uniform and one-patterned, but to create different images for each section, so I worked to make the movement and visual touches varied so that it would stay engaging to watch.
