Brand commercial for Gyoza no Oukoku, the mail-order brand of Sowa Shokuhin Kogyo, headquartered in Kumamoto. From planning and direction to character design and CG production, the project was handled in-house, and its quality—created in collaboration with overseas creators—became a nationwide topic of conversation, far exceeding the boundaries of a local commercial.

To depict the lights of cities and suburban neighborhoods as if they were models of stars, a miniature-photography-like tilt-shift technique was used.

For Reiwa 8 as well, I was again in charge of the key visual for the call for proposals for the Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Creators Development Support Program. By combining 3DCG created with Blender, rotoscoping, and distinctive textural expressions using a thermal printer, I built a tactile visual world in which digital and analog elements coexist comfortably. Existing values are depicted as a “school of fish,” or a collection of homogeneous individuals, while the newly emerging “egg” within it is expressed as a symbol of new values and perspectives nurtured through the support program. The sound design is by SOZEN OTSUBO. The delicate sound gives the entire video an organic sense of life.
