At the entrance of PwC Japan’s office in Otemachi, Tokyo, a consulting firm with more than 200,000 staff across 158 countries, a permanent audio-visual installation produced by JKD in collaboration with the architecture and design firm Gensler has been installed. For this project, an animation work was created for a 5-meter-high, 5-meter-wide wall, making use of calligraphy by the calligrapher Ukyo Kamigori, which had previously been on display there. Led by creative director Norimichi Asai and created in collaboration with calligrapher Mami and animator Hideki Inaba, the installation transforms dynamic brushstrokes into rich colors, creating a space that evokes a refined Japanese aesthetic. The sound design, by Daisuke Tanabe, draws viewers into the serene yet richly decorative animation.

This video was created as an innerscape, based on the intuitive visions that arise from hearing her sound, as well as the “poetry” or “words” shared in response to the music she creates, following those impressions.

SANRIO Twinkle Forever

Fairy Daizukan is a performance unit. This was produced as the opening animation for their YouTube channel. It begins with Naito, a security guard in a building late at night, accidentally hearing a mysterious radio, and the main part unfolds with puppets, singing, and dancing. The animation I was in charge of depicts this strange encounter. As a concept, I aimed for an animation that felt somehow nostalgic, with a look you might remember from childhood, and a retro color palette and image quality, as if it had been sleeping deep in the back of a closet.
