Papercraft Movie "The History of IDEMITSU" [Idemitsu Kosan]

2016

Saori Watanabe, a stop-motion animation artist, directed and wrote the screenplay for the Idemitsu Kosan 105th Anniversary Special Movie, “Papercraft Movie The History of IDEMITSU,” which is now available. Idemitsu Kosan is a leading Japanese energy company founded in the Meiji era. The released movie is a stop-motion animation that depicts, in papercraft, the history of Idemitsu Kosan—which continued to take on various hardships—and Japan, which achieved remarkable growth in the postwar period. All of the objects that appear are made entirely of paper. We created a film with a flat yet deeply dimensional look. It is a painstaking work shot over 18 days, with thick craft paper cut out by laser cutter and replaced frame by frame, while the camera work, as well as the position and distance of the craft paper, were adjusted little by little. The sunrise scene, a major centerpiece of this work, was also animated by gradually moving the actual sun (lighting) little by little. Please also pay attention to the atmospheric music and sound effects. A making-of movie offering a glimpse into the filming process and papercraft production is also now available. Linked Horizon "Akatsuki no Requiem" Music Video

2018
00:01:15
This is the music video for Linked Horizon’s “Akatsuki no Chinkonka,” which was produced as the ending theme for Season 3 Part 1 of the TV anime Attack on Titan. To ensure that it could be enjoyed not only by Attack on Titan fans and Linked Horizon fans, but also by viewers with no prior knowledge of either, and to further bring out the power of the song itself, we infused every motif that appears—characters, backgrounds, action, and more—with a strong message, creating a unique world view. In addition, the sound effects (SE) that enliven the visuals are also filled with the meticulous attention to detail of Revo and Hirokazu Ebisu, who handled the SE. The story quietly begins with two figures: a mysterious white creature that appears from the opening, and the man in the black coat who appears before it every day. We would be grateful if each viewer could interpret the “truth” that gradually comes into focus as the story unfolds in their own way. (The footage is a special Blu-ray bonus for the first press limited edition, so we will refrain from discussing the content of the video. Also, the information available on this site is all that has been posted.)
