Self-produced work released to coincide with my 20th birthday. To freely vary the thickness and line-following forms of the text, such as “GET OLDER” and “BIRTHDAY,” like a variable font, I handled everything from typographic design to animation entirely within After Effects shape layers. I aimed to combine brisk cuts synchronized to the music with smooth transitions, creating a seamless viewing experience throughout the video.

This work received the First-Time Entrant Award in the Motion category of Adobe MAX Challenge 2025. Given the theme “Create magic.”, it was developed through trial and error to express a world where magic is brought to life. The word “Magic” was interpreted from both “a super-scientific, alluring image” and “a superpower-like force that makes imagined things real,” and the piece was designed to create a striking contrast by combining a lustrous color palette with pop-inspired shapes. The typography for “magic” comes together, and in the end, the shapes overflow from the center in an animation. This suggests the depth of creativity: the magic created by one’s own hands gives rise to endless possibilities.
