An animation created as the music video for “Close to Me” by in the blue shirt. Drawing on the song’s origins as a work made entirely through sampling and cut-up techniques, the piece interprets rotoscoping as an animation method with the same structural logic. Rotoscoping is a technique that traces live-action footage, allowing the movement of the subject to be directly and vividly reflected on screen. In addition, this work combines stencil-based spray techniques. By incorporating the non-deterministic fluctuations of particles, it seeks to transform the vividness of rotoscoping into the subject’s own indexicality, and to reconfigure it.

Tamagotchi celebrates its 30th anniversary! I was in charge of Direction / Produce.

A first work by PLUG IN, inspired by an artwork by illustrator Tomoya Soejima that depicts the loneliness he felt when he moved to Tokyo, as well as his frustration with impersonal human relationships. Motion designer Ken Muroi, who was also involved in launching Unplug, breathes life into the completed still-image world by infusing it with “movement,” turning it into a film. With trackmaker in the blue shirt on board, the visuals and beats blend together as the image shifts from monochrome to vivid color, drawing viewers from silence to release, and from a sense of confinement to a sense of dynamism.

A work created as part of “Free Association,” a project that freely associates visuals from the music of in the blue shirt. A stop-motion MV for “Windfall” (short ver.), a track from the “Convex Mirror e.p.” released on 2024/04/24. With the completely open-ended, no-deadline creative brief, we challenged ourselves to: ・Create without a storyboard (developing the composition as we went along) ・Shoot with a webcam (especially aiming for a “low-quality” look)

Opening movie for Kyoto Takashimaya S.C., which opened on October 17, 2023. Produced based on the main visual by painter and picture book artist Ayako Ishiguro. The music was provided by in the blue shirt, “Cast Off.”
