SDGs 14: Life Below Water "Flying Plastic Bag"
2019
00:01:31
This work was created to convey the fact that the plastic waste we use in our daily lives is destroying marine ecosystems. The plastic bags floating comfortably through the sky eventually reach the sea, where they disrupt the ecosystems of living creatures. By portraying the shocking contrast between the first and second halves of the piece, the work makes this reality more memorable. In addition, this piece features a mother and daughter as the main characters, both of whom often use plastic shopping bags.
The structure was designed so that a child, who will help shape the future of the planet, refuses a plastic bag and shows the will to protect the future, encouraging viewers who may use plastic bags without much thought to take action as well. The mother is played by Shizuka from the comedy duo Nankai Candies, who has been highly praised for her acting in numerous dramas and films.
