A man who visits various places in Yokohama encounters a new Yokohama of his own.
Produced as a promotional video for Yokohama City.
It depicts a day in the life of a man moving through the city of Yokohama, using a single-shot loop animation.
As this is a promotion for Yokohama City, the city itself was treated as the protagonist, with the man always placed at the center of the frame and the changing cityscape of Yokohama around him expressed in an engaging way.
In the first half, the man is shown from a closer viewpoint, while the final shot pulls back to reveal the full view of the city he visited. The structure makes it clear that the man sleeps in a hotel, visits various places in Yokohama, then returns to the hotel and sleeps again, forming a loop. The city of Yokohama is portrayed from this man’s perspective.
The reason for this structure is that there is a different Yokohama depending on the place visited and the viewpoint taken, and something new can be discovered no matter how many times it is seen.
As suggested by the catchphrase “Each time we meet, it’s new,” the aim was to visually express a Yokohama that feels “new every time you see it,” no matter how many times it is watched.
